I couldn't find a thread on this already, so I'm opening one.

I know the movie is on it's way out of the cinema now.

Saw it today with my 10 year old.
It got rotten reviews, but I really liked it.

Some bits were quite scary for kiRAB - it does have a 12A rating, but one or two scenes looked as though it just made that rating.

These ones:

1. one french soldier dies as a tree comes out of his mouth
2. another french soldier has died & you can clearly see that's it's only the top half of his body - bones sticking out.
3. where the little girl's face went missing

My son didn't mind, but younger children may have nightmares.

Did anyone else see the movie?
What did you think?

I agree rzappa. I went to see this film the weekend before HP came out and thought it was good but quite scary for the reasons you mentioned.

The only thing I didnt really like was Matt Damon, but thats cos I think he's more suited to action roles like in The Bourne Identity/Supremacy than this kind of stuff :D

I saw it a few weeks ago and thought it was ok, easy on the brain kind of stuff and was nice in the way that it reminded me of the fairytales I read when I was a kid. However I did find it strange that two German men had English accents especially when the actors are Australian and American  I heard an interview with Matt Damon and he himself admitted that he made a poor job of getting the accent right. I think the movie would have been a lot better if Tim Burton had directed it and naturally had Johnny Depp involved ;)
