The Book Of Eli

Went to see this tonight. Another excellent Denzel Washington movie. Good story and a clever ending. Oldman and Kunis were also great too.

I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but glad I went to see it. I actually thought it was quite similar to the videogame 'Fallout 3' with the setting and the way the characters stole of each other for supplies etc.

I'd give it an 8/10

a pleasant surprise, better than I thought it would be ....

Nice to see Miss Jones from Rising damp make an appearance and a good twist in the story....

7/10...

Enjoyed the film, Denzel was brilliant as always.
When the plot twist was revealed, the effect was like watching 'The Sixth Sense' for the first time, I wanted to watch it again to look for the clues!

9/10

I wondered if that was her, with Michael Gambon, playing a classic oldie:D

I really enjoyed it, more action than I expected, and I did not see that twist coming. Well you wouldn't, would you?;)

seriously. were we watching the same film? i hated it. liked the idea, but it was so poorly executed. i thought all the great actors were wasted...i kinda liked it when i thought it was gonna be anti-religion (about halfway through when the bad guy is like the bible can be used to control the weak and desperate) but then it turned into ridiculousness. proper awful.

I thought it was quite good, a different film from what I was expecting.

Although, if he was blind, how did he get a fright when he saw the dead body hanging in the closet?

Like everyone else, I'll have to watch it again knowing what I now know.

EDIT:
Also, I worked out pretty early on that the book was the bible, was this meant to be obvious, because my friend never realised that until the end. Was I too smart or was he just thick lol

I guess it was the smell that made him jump. But the more i think of it, he felt the whole down the leg of that body for the shoes.

Would love to watch again just to see what clues there are. What i kinda don't get thought:

If he was already blind...what was the need for the sunglasses?

Really liked it though, pleasantly surprised with it. Thought Mila Kunis played the part pretty well.

Watched this few days ago, it wasn't quite what i expected but still enjoyable nonetheless. It wouldn't describe it as particularly great but neither would i say it was poor. I guess i just felt like the story could have been a little stronger or told a little better. The plot twist was a nice addition though.

I've just got back from watching it and I really enjoyed it - the twist wasn't one of those life-changing revelation moments because I guess I wasn't entirely sure if they were ..

implying he was completely blind or just blind in one eye ..

still, great film. Very stylish and borderline 'Sin City' in look in some places.

Really enjoyed this, very different to what I expected. There were alot of chav laRAB in the screening I was in who didn't seem to enjoy it, I think they thought it was just going to be entirely action and fight scenes when really it was a bit of a thinker - which I enjoyed.

I had problems with the implication that he really was 'blessed' in some way. Also had problems with the film saying it was a good thing for the Bible to be saved from elimination.

If religion caused 'the war' (and let's face it, that's quite likely right now) then resurrecting it is something a baddie would do, not our protagonist.

It was undeniably stylishly filmed and directed though, and it wasn't boring.

See the thing is, we're led to believe that the bible caused the war and Carnegie wants it to use as a weapon...so why has it been saved...thats something i've been thinking about since i seen it.

Think i'm seeing this again this week, i don't usually make a habit of seeing a film twice but that twist at the end makes me want to see it again lol
