The Boat That Rocked.

I loved it, laughed all the way through, captured the essence of the 60's I think!
Have already got the DVD and there is a full sized cinema poster in our studios at the station
Incidentally the only boat that sank whilst still on air as far as I know was Radio Hauraki off New Zealand.
One little niggle it doesn't say at the end of the film that Caroline continued after the August shut down
and continued until March 1968.
But still that was then, this is now.
Go and buy it for

Thougt it was very poor

The ending was simply awful with it's 'radio continues in the UK' and Rock and Roll has done alright, then shows a black eyed peas s**t album to the David Bowie song 'lets dance' while the cast dance around.... one of the most irritating ending I seen for ages

Correct me if I'm wrong but Richard Curtis only direceted 'love actually' before and I hated that.... My conclusion is he can't direct and should stick to being the writer

Maybe a more experienced director would have tightened it up and focused on getting the laughs. But some of the best sequences are visual ones: the Chris O'Dowd lipsynch, the vertiginous mast-climbing scene, the night out on land, the people listening to their transistor radios and so on. The evidence is that Curtis has a good sense of what looks right on film, he just didn't have a strong enough plot for such an ambitious film.

The caption at the end makes me chuckle, something like:

"There are 300 radio stations around the uk, playing pop & rock 24 hours a day"

It should then add:

"All of them exactly the same"

:)

Without going off topic too much, not all are the same,
think of how diverse some stations are, Classic FM, Virgin, Talk sport, Rock FM, etc;
You are in the main mostly right, to hear a more diverse musical choice
you can't do better at times than your own community radio station.
OK it can be a little rough but the diversity on our station I think is great!

Thought the movie was excellent! great sound track and some very funny moments! only slight critizism was it was bit over long!!.. good feel good movie very nostalgic!

I have been wondering if the deleted scenes from the film which include the LV 18 as Sunshine Radio appear as extras in the Blue Ray version as they are not on the normal DVD?
