The Blue Pill Game

There are moments in almost every movie where, if the characters had shown a bit of common sense, they could have saved themselves a lot of trouble - and totally ruined the movie.

For starters:

The Matrix
Thomas Anderson takes the blue pill and goes back to his day job.

Psycho
Marion Crane decides the Bates Motel looks a tad spooky and keeps driving.

Kill Bill Vol 2
The Bride finRAB Bill, and following couples counselling they decide to make a go of things.

ET
The aliens remember to take little ET home with them right at the beginning.

The Shining
Jack turns down the job at the Overlook Hotel for something a bit more convenient in the city.

Any more?

Great idea!!! :D

Lord of the Rings: Bilbo keeps the Ring
Its a Wonderful Life: George Bailey chucks himself off the bridge
Die Hard: Bruce doesn't spend the time with his ex-wife and goes to Aspen instead.
The Exorcist: Megan's mum has a little boy instead :D

Don't you just love McGuffins? None of this has much to do with common sense though really.
