She has laid four eggs but has now been gone for over a week. I have noticed other blackbirds building nests again and wondered if I should take the nest out of the box so another blackbird might lay there. What do you think?
to late to try and incubate wither way. plus the hand rearing would be hard. if you positive she hasnt been there and the eggs are freezing then remove them and bit it.
Perhaps the eggs hadn't been fertilised and wouldn't have hatched anyway, as chickens lay eggs without having a cockrel to rub tummies with mummy bird! I'd guess blackbirds are the same.
The incubation period for a blackbird's egg is 13 days, if you're sure that period is passed you might as well clean out.
A pity eh!
