Best movie, everrrrrrr! :) I love it so much. Josh Harnett did fantastic! As did the rest of the cast. I couldn't stop reading about this story when I first heard about it so I was definitely excited to see this.

This is one of the worst films I've seen. I felt bad for the actors, I actually pitied them.

I thought the first half was decent but the second half, people were actually laughing out loud. I'm not sure if it was intended, but I doubt it.

The real case is very mysterious, though. In this day and age where little is not known, a case like this still has an aura of darkness around it that is rare.

Josh Hartnett was great in this, though. His face is timeless so it gave the movie a lot of atmosphere.

I have to say that I loved this movie! Josh Hartnett and Scarlett Johansson were amazing!

Since seeing the movie, I've been captivated by the whole story and have bought a few true crime novels on the Black Dahlia! I wonder if they ever will catch her real killer, whether he's deceased or not.

I enjoyed the movie.
It wasn't De Palma's best work but I still found it quite interesting. I liked the acting a lot.
The script was confusing, it was hard not to feel lost in the second half of the film. But somehow, I loved the cinematography and the music that created the film noir atmosphere I truly enjoy.

I was wondering maybe the book was much better.

Oh, we were laughing a lot too. It was like all of a sudden we were watching a comedy. We had a ball. ;)

But yeah, they hardly focused on the case, the title of the movie is just to get people to see it. The real story is totally tangled and unresolved so they threw everything but the kitchen sink at the screenplay. It didn't work for crap.

agree with ROckstar....saw this tonite and thought it was awful!!! There are way too many stories going on at once and there are moments in the film where I was laughing....and shouldnt have been....

This had potential to be a good movie, if they had focused on what the title says, The Black Dahlia! All the other subplots were ludicrous!! Just stupid. And the acting was decent....there were moments I rolled my eyes, but I tend to blame the director and screen writer instead of the actors.

THis is definitely a HUGE disappointment! I say save your money and dont waste it here...

I watched this and it was not good. The first hour was amazing but the rest was incredibly bad. It was hella confusing, too bizarre without proper context, it was too everything.

I was not sure how to react to certain things and I was left there thinking how if you're going to reference a real life tragedy to create a fictional story, you might as well earn it by doing a good job. De Palma didn't earn it, he totally misfired.

The actress playing Elizabeth Short was terrfic, though. The acting was generally good.

I have been waiting for this movie for the past year and Half, since before the Josh Hartnett board was closed I can not wait to finally see it

I'm excited for this too, especially after seeing the trailer attached to The Illusionist.

I'm not a huge fan of Swank, mostly because her performance in Million Dollar Baby wasn't that great.

I've got to say that I am pretty excited for this movie, the previews look awesome.

I.just.don't.like.Hilary Swank.

But thank you for the thread! And for linking to the Crime Library web site - that's pretty cool. :)

ETA - oh, whoah! I just read the true crime site (the proport to be non-biased and sensational but they TOTALLY sensationlised their editorial), and apparently she's barried 1/2 mile from my house! Heck, we have a view of some of the cemetray from most of the upstairs windows. Interesting... I knew there were lots of famous people buried there, and they used to put on this beautiful holiday light show, but I didn't know about her...not that I'm going to visit the grave - but I bet a lot of people will after the movie...

I have been excited to see this since I saw the preview at the movie theaters.

It sounds crazy and Hilary Swank has some unforgettable lines.

I will def. be seeing it!
