The best way to play .swf flash from hard drive?

At the moment I use Mozilla Firefox to play .swf but I downloaded both the latest install_flash_player.exe and Shockwave_Installer_Slim.exe from the Adobe website but it seems my files still play in Firefox and I can't find my Flash/Shockwave player anywhere.

But I'm not even sure if it's best to leave it as Firefox or not in the first place, what do you guys recommend?
