The best studio

I've always had a soft spot for Studio Pierrot and AIC. Both have a fairly distinctive style and are among the best in the world at crafting action scenes. Pierrot is responsible for most of the biggest hits in the Shonen Jump family...Yu Yu Hakusho, Hiraku no Go, BLEACH, the new Doreamon, Narutto: Shippuden...the original Magical Girl Creamy Mami, Fushugi Yugi, all of Saiyuki , Great Teacher Onizuka, Kimagume Orange Road, the first half Urusei Yatsura...

Hard to beat basically inventing the magical girl genre.

As for AIC, well, there's Tenchi, Blue Gender, Ah! My Goddes, Battle Athletes, Bubble Gum Crisis, (Now and Then, Here and There), El Hazard..heck, they even worked on Inspector Gadget. Especially in the old hand-drawn days you could always tell when it was an AIC project. The characters always looked like real people, even their hentai characters. Try finding anyone who does realistic hentai characters anymore.
 
Sunrise is consistently high quality production wise. I do think they get overrated at times in terms of the shows they make, but they're always going to be at least well animated and crafted.

Gainax is the old fairy tale of the fan company turned commercial. Personally, I do prefer their earlier days when they were anime rebels trying to make an impact. They seem more commercial now.

Gonzo I think is/was actually underrated. Their production values are inconsistent but I do find they take a lot of risks, more than most studios. They're dead now though.

Madhouse, Production IG and Bones are all also good ones, but I find their shows to be hit or miss with me personally.
 
Sorry, I'm just surprised someone on an animation forum has gone without seeing a Pixar movie when they're continually the best-reviewed and most-successful animation studio around.



I didn't like what I saw of Eureka 7 though I've been assured it has great parts later on and Wolf's Rain was terribly disappointing, but Cars was sort of off as well so there's not that much of a difference in the two companies' recorRAB.
 
I know right? That makes me laugh every time I look at it.

I agree with both Mars and Bug's Life.

Oh Mars Daybreak, you could have been so much better than the lameness that you were.


Personally, I think Gonzo started to lose itself after a while.
