The best movie of all time

I did say it would be painful

I am

not really - it's that evidence suggests you don't like Green mile - and you say you do

It's extremely likely - you're not alone - lots people pretend to like stuff to be trendy - Rick Stein is famous for pretending to like good food (and cook it) - when in fact in the only two taste tests he has completed shows he can't tell quality cusine from supermarket nosh - which in turn means he can't cook either

it's a bit like joining a club or wearing a uniform - and of course it's difficult to prove otherwise (who can say what you like but you) - but not impossible as i've just demonstrated

You probably don't listen to songs you 'want to' like incase you go off them too - for exactly the same reasons

Radiomaniac, I totally get where you are coming from.
jethroUK - what a load of psychobabble sh*te!! Just because you may have some knowledge of psychology, heck, you may even have a degree in it for all I know, don't judge people on theories you may have read!! You come across as so patronising and condescending its unbelieveable! You really make yourself sound daft!

Lawrence of Arabia
Citizen Kane
The Third Man
The Seven Samurai
Throne of Blood
Rififi
Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf
Wizard Of Oz

Amelie was directed by Jean Pierre Jeunet. Whose past efforts include Delicatessan.

If you ever watch Amelie you will see the amount of media that has copied its style, from adverts to film.

Thankyou VickiGri.

I agree 100% with your above remarks and won't justify myself further or validate his psycho nonsense with any more replies.

As I said - Radiomaniac is not alone - lots of people 'pretend' to like stuff :p

I don't - i just have a degree in the bleeding obvious

Give me one reason for not consuming something you 'pretend' to like (be it chocolate or a film) and you will see real psychobabble - but for sure - you don't actually like it - thats a fact a teenager could see

I know you love Jake, but the 'best film of all time'?....

We are talking about what RAB'ers think is the best film of all time,NOT necessarily your favs.

I love The Wild Geese and Where Eagles Dare, but I would never think they are amongst the best ever made. Lawrence of Arabia on the other hand IS a fav of mine AND also by general consensus by punters and the film industry itself one of the best films ever made, perhaps the best.

Surely, that comes down to the same thing doesn't it,? what we think is the best film, or am I missing something here. ?

Well, according to the general consensus of opinion then, the best film of all time is Citizen Kane which I didn't particularly like,

I've got a long list of films I've absolutely loved, including

The Shawshank Redemption
The Colour Purple
Lawrence Of Arabia
Shindlers List
Chocolat
It's A Wonderful Life
The Wizard Of Oz
and my favourite of all

BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN !!!

Donnie Darko - Once you think you start to understand it, you think of something else that shatters your understanding of it. Fantastic film which kept me in thought for a week afterwarRAB.

The Pursuit of Happiness - This movie just touched me. The only film I've ever seen that has made me make changes to my life. Fantastic.

P.S. I Love You - I know this movie got slated very badly, but this is the only movie that has ever made me cry. Very moving with a nice twist at the end.

The Colour Purple - I never thought Whoopey could do a serious role, but I found her very authentic and played the role fantastically.
