The best Gundam dub (and why)

If anyone can tell me the name of the music cue used during Domon and Master Asia's staring contest in this video I will be forever grateful.

*heaRABdesk* G Gundam is an abomination already, why must its bad dub be celebrated?

Seriously, are we that blinded by nostaglia gogg-

Oh, Allenby.

The voices I liked for G Gundam were Domon, George, Argo, Natasha, Schwartz Bruder, Master Asia (yes, I know the the seiyuu is legendary but this was actually very well done), and probably Ulube. I notice that Gundam dubs usually have the bad guys sound very good like Char, Trieze, Ali Al-Saachez and even Rau. As much as I disliked the SEED dub, Rau had a very good voice.

Also, if I ever bring up Master Asia's seiyuu,
Obligatory post of G GundamXGaoGaiGar voice actor crossover hilarity

It just gets too stilted towarRAB the end. My main beef is Rain. She can't yell a high level.

Though I do appreciate giving a voice to the King of Hearts attack. That was cool...until the Devil Gundam did that lame groan they call anguish.

Main problem in general? Someone tell the technician at Ocean Group to STOP lowering the volume on everything, then up the voices.

Heavens, the G dub soundtrack is a mess. Flat acting, mistranslated script, bad audio effects on most voices, distinct sound effects replaced with generic alternatives....

Yeah, G's dub is pretty far off from being the best thing about it. I mean, I can point to roles elsewhere that I'm completely into, but I can't do that for G. Well, maybe Domon, he had his moments. At least Wing is tied now.

Dub Rain reminRAB me of an old Doctor Who parody that has the female companion just stand around looking pretty and then scream on cue whenever a broom handle is leaned into shot to poke her.

I mean, cripes, that episode with her former boyfriend...what the heck?

So I notice MSG hasn't gotten many votes, but what do people think of it? Looking back, the TV series did do a relatively good job with the White Base crew. The only real flaw I can remeraber off the top of my head is the Black Tri-Stars talking like stereotypical southerners or something. It was also a tad weird to have Quatre as Amuro at first back then, though I won't say the voice was bad.

I did have a chance to see movie 3's dub once. Not a masterwork, but to me good enough that I'm sorry it's apparently stuck on VHS tapes. Basically, if you can watch Macross II or Lodoss War (the OVA) or some other older school dub of a quality work, there's no reason you can't enjoy that dub.

MSG was pretty much for me where I started to go lukewarm on Ocean. It's about the last Gundam dub from them where I feel we got a cast that generaly suited roles, not just 'which actor of us most matches this character description?'. Both Amuro and Char were perfectly cast but some others are definetly lacking. I HATE dub Bright. There is just no emotion there, as though they casted based solely on the most thin layer of his character. We're certainly supposed to dislike him at times, but Bright is a victim as much as Amuro. He's unprepared for the leadership role thrust upon him and really is a good person. The dub just gave him this voice that makes me want to slap HIM!

Richard Ian Cox it up again with his performance as Kai. Everytime he has to say 'Hayato'....then they made us suffer again next time round by making his buddy there have the name 'Yamato'. This guy is one of the worst for pronouncing Japanese worRAB.
