The Best Film In The World Ever!!!!!!!!!!!!

It makes me laugh that with a thread title of 'The Best Film in the World Ever!!!' that most of the films mentioned have been from the last 20 years!!!

You need to start at the 1930's and work your way forward cos there are a million to choose from and quite a few would warrant the title 'Best Film in the World Ever!!!'

You can't just judge from the 1980's onwarRAB (although I do agree somewhat with the 'Life of Brian') :D
 
What do you think about America remaking Suspiria? :mad:

Dario Argento said he couldn't stand the script he read for the remake apparently.


Haute Tension is fabulous yes, really enjoy the French film.

You don't have to start that far back at all. The 'old films are better' line, is a myth that people like to follow, because they think knowing the dubious storyline to Un Chien Andalou makes them seem knowledgable. Similar to the even more bizarre 'it's all special effects now' line from some. The truth being that there were some great films back then, but there are a far greater number of 'good' films now, and just as many 'great' films, you just have to look in the right places.

Although I agree that some of the choices here border on the 'I have actuially only seen 4 films' line ( ;) ), but after the first post described Harry Potter, Grease and Rocky as some of the best films ever, you were never off to a good one.

Too difficult to judge, but my favourites are Some like it Hot, Airplane, Reservoir Dogs and maybe Suspiria. Recently, probably Kill Bill, Switchblade Romance and Breaking the Waves.

And as an aside, don't worry everyone, i'm sure ready2watch is just trying to wind people up.

Makes me want to wage war against the only film industry in the world that seems to have literally run out of any discernible ideas of their own.

If it's not every japanese/korean horror, it's Fever PItch, and now the great man Argento.

Bastardisation tbh.
 
Too close to call, but if I really had to narrrow it down to just one film I'd probably plump for Moulin Rouge. Great acting, re-invented the modern movie musical as well as being complete subversion of them, plenty of humour and pathos and a near masterclass in editing.

A top 5 would also include Pulp Fiction, On The Waterfront, The Godfather and The Killer.

I thik you're being a bit hard on Bottle Rocket; it was funny and James (God) Caan was in it.
Owen Wilson's career is built on the Demi Moore/Bruce Willis principle: if you make enough movies one of them may be worth watching. :)
