The bbfc just waived all cuts on last house on the left!

Are you sure that it's the full version? Eg there is a version on 20/06/2003 with duration 82m 37s which is also uncut, which is slightly longer than the 2008 version.

I hope it is. In my opinion this is one of the few video nasties to have enduring artistic merit. The scenes cut were available on the website anyway and I don't think including them would bring the film down.

I'm surprised that it's now being passed uncut considering it was only a few weeks ago that the media were kicking up a fuss over video nasties, wanting that nazi exploitation film banned among others. I bought Last House on the Left a few months back and felt it probably would have made more sense with the cut material in it. Suppose the BBFC are having a hard time justifying the cuts with some of the stuff that's come out recently...

Perhaps they're hoping to whip up a bit of hysteria in the Mail / Express reading community and get the level of cutting / banning ramped up a bit again?

It's not that nasty though compared to a lot that came out around that time, or coming out now...

I had it uncut on vhs for years, nothing special about the movie for me. Oh there is a second remake of the movie coming out with that actress Monica Potter in it.

The 2003 version was not uncut.

Until this certification the film has always been cut in the UK.

It was banned outright for years

I wonder if this signals the possibility for an uncut I Spit On Your Grave

The hype surrounding video nasties obscures the brutal truth that the vast majority, even then, were a pile of poo...

They should have been banned and remained so for artistic reasons if nothing else...:D

Wes Craven seems to have fallen down from an artistic standpoint to be acting as executive producer of 2 upcoming, unnecessary remakes after that turkey Cursed

I remember watching both of these movies before the banning of video nasties. In fact there was a rumour around that 'The House on the Left' was a snuff movie as the movie was so bad (acting etc) and the killings so realistic, that they had to be real :D

Both films should remain on the cutting room floor as far as I'm concerned........awful films.
