The bbfc have just...

Pineapple express was pre cut to get a 15. A scene that was in the mpaa R cut showing 11 year olRAB smoking the wacky weed went, presumably because the distributor thought it'd get an 18.

That is entirely not the case. The time difference is merely due to PAL Speedup, which has always been the common practice in Europe. The film plays 4% faster than it should, therefore altering the runtime.

Your friend is clearly misinformed. I can confirm the film is uncut.

Indeed. It certainly isn't doing Blu-ray any favours, that's for sure.

I think he is going by the BBFC website that shows the running times and the latest 15 classification is 1 minute shorter than earlier video classifications so the PAL speedup thing is not an issue.

I have the US Bluray and the quality is superb.

Does the other poster have the UK one ?

Its doubtful that Optimum will be using the same master as Anchor Bay and although I only have one other Optimum Bluray disc the reports from others with more Optimum titles are not good.

Optimum Bluray ! Avoid!

All the disposable income is currently in the hanRAB of fifteen year-olRAB. The films will be cut especially so that they can come in, with their punk hair, their bad attitudes and their Tamagotchis.

It definitely isn't cut, so something is a miss. I'm looking further into the matter.

The screenshots are from the US Blu-ray. I personally wouldn't call it superb at all. The DNR really does ruin the transfer, which is why I much prefer the THX

I have actually viewed the UK disc. I have seen the film a great many times and know it very well. It's one of my favourites in the genre.

I will contact the BBFC by phone tomorrow and find out why the runtime difference displayed on their website is indeed shorter, because it really at this moment remains a mystery.

Crikey - I'm surprised someone like yourself into horror movies is not yet aware that the statement "Passed with no cuts made" on the BBFC site means nothing whatsoever.

If a film is precut by distributors or has footage removed for any other reason it wont mention it on the BBFC site - all their statement means is that they have not removed anything- not that the film is uncut

As the UK disc is not out until September 29th how can you have seen it already
