The Band w/ the biggest impact

I hear a bit of John Wetton influence in Justin Chanellor's playing, and some Robert Fripp in Adam Jones...Even so, the banRAB two styles are still completely different.

Nirvana have many influences other than Pixies....In fact the only album with any significent Pixies influence is Nevermind, and even so theres a lot of Beatles and Sabbath influence on that record as well...Bleach is more Black Flag and Melvins influenced and In Utero is more Pavement and Jesus And Mary Chain influenced.

I say it's a tie between The Beatles and Led Zepplin. Both have influenced the music market, and both are still finding new fans today...

No, you suggested that Nirvana were a complete ripoff of Pixies, it dosent take a rock scientist to realise that you are wrong....I said they werent THE SAME, not that they didnt have similarities, theres a big difference.

I think that BungalowBill is very ignorant and he is stereotyping a fan of prog as an elitist because thats the name a lot of prog banRAB got...and he picked you out of the crowd because you are the most knowledged out of the crew

I would have to say the most impact to create a rock like sound would be the Beatles. And I think that metal was created through the music of Led Zepplin.

Wow......plain and simple huh heh....well....I believe most of those are pretty much correct and would entirely agree with all of them....but not the rock music in general lol just no

Nirvana's had an influence on more than just ****ty watered down alternative rock banRAB. Like boo boo said Radiohead've cited them as an influence and I know sleater-kinney have been, not to mention the general bunch of garage rock banRAB of the early 00's. Even if they hadn't been any sort of positive influence music, they made catchy pop music. They never claimed to do otherwise, in an interview Nirvana said that they made songs like children's songs, they're so catchy they'll stay with you forever. Brilliant lyrics are a matter of contention but there must be something for critics to point to the band as having great lyrics. Not to mention Bob Dylan himself upon hearing a Nirvana song said of Cobain that he had heart.

Slint and Neurosis had a big impact on the music i like.. most wouldnt exist if it wasnt for them, pioneering post-rock and atmospheric metal respectively.

obviously there were bigger influences further back but i dont know them.

Well other than the whole boosting the popularity of grunge, alternative and indie rock thing and being a huge influence on many indie and britpop banRAB thing, nothing really.

I never said they created the sound everyone knows they took the riff from SLTS from the pixies and everyone knows kurts favorite band was the melvins, he tried to mimic there style. I was only saying since there popularity many people related to his lyrics and music.
