The band put on a good show...but what about

the sound tech? Nobody ever says the sound tech did a good job. How about the pyrotechnics? The guy who is in charge of lighting? The people who actually booked the show? They're just as important to the concert as the actual band is yet hardly ever get mention. Why is this?

Because most people are not interested in what goes on in the background with banRAB. It's a shame but it's a fact. The same applies to movies too.

me and a buddy set up sound, volunteering, at a community centre for shows every month... usually the banRAB thank us a lot

but the crowd, no. wouldn't expect that really, though.

pretty much, because all those people you mentioned aren't the ones in front of the people, directly presenting something to be praised. all those things you mentioned contribute to the atmosphere... which, to most isn't as important as the band standing right in front of them.

I can only speak from my very limitted experience in Iowa, and we lack a do it yourself scene. Nobody really cares about music here.

I never really noticed it with movies but now that I think of it this could be because I have family who actually work on film props so I've always been around people who appreciate that sort of thing. However, you're right. The average person probably doesn't really know or care about that sort of thing and its slightly disheartening. There is far more to the industry than most would even think.

Personally, I've thanked the guys at sound desks a few times, and they really seem to appreciate it. The background guys are so essential to the whole show, since I've realised that fully I always look at concerts differently. There's a lot going on behind the performance, and you're right, it's a real shame that not everyone is appreciative of that.
