"The bailout" What is it...............?

Can somebody please tell me what the bailout is? Also what happens if they pass the bailout, what happens if they don't? I heard 700 billion is just an estimate it's going to be more like 2 trillion! Sorry if it sounds dumb but the media rants about the bailout and how its going to cause a great depression, but they never say what it is!
 
The "bailout" is another example of the Bush administration attempting to give tax money to the rich and superrich. Don't fall for the propaganda. The Bush people engineered this from the beginning by deregulating the industry they and their friends got wealthy from this ponzi scheme. Now that it has imploded they want you and I to give them even more money and they seem to be getting away with it.
