The back wheel on my back is grinding against the chain stay pretty badly, it's hard to push my bike on foot without it stopping occassionally and making annoying squeaky noises from the friction against the tyre and stay. It happened gradually and now it's just really bad and its really effortful to ride it.

Is there anyway to fix this without going to a bike repair shop? I don't wanna waste lots of money when I can do this myself.

It's a mountain bike and I usually ride it very fast which is probably what caused it.

Flip the bike upside down, loosen up the nuts and bolts for the rear tire, enough to allow it to move. Grab a sturdy broom or stick put between the crank and the rear tire, use it as leverage, and pull the stick toward the front wheel while someone tightens the bolts.
(you will need assistance) good luck

your axel maybe loose or your wheel is bent
first Choice get a socket and a ratchet if not a crescent wrench any thing else and you'll hate yourself later ,and loosen the nuts on your wheel and set it where you think it looks good then turn the wheel(after you tighten the nuts if you don't like the way it turns repeat the processes till you do then make sure your tighten everything back

loosen nuts on axle and hold wheel up right retighten theres not many things you cant find a how to do online just by typing into search box few tools to use easy heres some videos of how to do most

It sounds as though the tire is not in alignment with the frame. Try loosening both nuts that hold down the rear tire. adjust the tire so it is not rubbing on the chain stay, and is in alignment with the frame.
