It is hilarious - very very offensive - but hilarious.

You have to be VERY broadminded to watch it but it's worth the risk - if you don't like it just walk out.

What a load of rubbish this film is. Not shocking (not nowadays) so not even funny. Of course the comedians were wetting themselves laughing at their own jokes (which says a lot), unlike the audience most of whom had walked out by the end. :yawn:

If you want swearing that is funny, go and listen to the Derek and Clive CD's.

That basically is the movie. The idea is that the start and end of the joke are the same, but the comedians then put their own spin on the contents of the act, trying to be as vile as possible. :yawn:

In the film they try to justify it by saying that it's like a jazz musician improvising a solo. Yeah, right.

It suggests Aristocrats do all those vile and shocking things. I sat there completely stony faced when I read it. Least funny thing ever. I'm glad I looked the joke up because now I can avoid the film.

The 'joke' is that aristocrats (a supposedly highly refined and slightly represed group with good standing in the community) are performing these disgusting, exhibitionist stunts.

It's the comedy equivalent of nicknaming a tall, large guy "little" - so, no, it's not really meant to be funny, but it's still 'technically' a joke.

The original idea was that seasoned comedians would tell it to stand-up virgins before they went on stage in order to confuse and worry them; it's a kind of cruel 'hazing the new guy' prank...

...apparently the film (which I haven't seen) seems to think its something to do with free-form jazz or an equally pretentious explanation...

It's pathetic. nothign funny about it at all. i'm now fairly confident that the film is just a psuedo documentary excuse to get away with as much filth as possible.

Ermmmmm, I like offensive humour as much as the next woman but the jokes not funny. An earlier poster mentioned Derek and Clive and that's what it reminded me of, rude worRAB and images completely lacking in humour.

I thought the movie was interesting and funny in places, but hurt by the fact discussion of 1 joke really isn't enough to sustain a 90 minute film, and by the fact most of the performers are only well known in the usa, and you will likely only vaguely know them, at best.

The south park version is funny as hell though- "I don't get it? Neither do I."

I didn't find much of it "hilarious". Far too self congratulatory IMO. The South Park skit was funny, but then for that I could have just watched South Park. I liked the female comedian who inverted the joke, told a sweet story, then when asked what the act was called..."goat sucking, mother ******s". The few other genuinely laugh out loud moments didn't actually involve the joke being told.

The language may be toned down but every comedian uses incest and bestiality jokes nowadays, it was hardly risk taking. If they wanted to do that, racism would have been the way to go, or even chuck in a few Holocaust gags.

It's also interesting to see where actors like Martin Mull & Andy Richter - who are best known for fairly tame comedies - came from.
