The amityville horror.

Is Ryan ReynolRAB playing the dad? I've not seen the original, but I thought he was a bit young to play the dad so i looked it up, he was born 1976 and is playing dad to an actor born in 1989..? Is he the biological dad or step dad or what? Or maybe older brother? I just think, maybe it would have been better to get someone older in...

I'm pretty sure he's playing the biological dad. It is a bit strange, but maybe he looks younger than he is or something.

I'm hopefullly going to see it tonight, so now you've pointed that out to me, I'll have to keep it in mind.

He plays the stepdad not the biological dad. Anyway, the movie is worth watching IMHO. Better that most of the recent horror remakes. Good gory fun.

What put me off the Amityville Horror first time round is that it is blatanty clap-trap. What happened was that that a couple moved into a house where some people had been murdered, made up some silly ghost story then sold the book/TV rights for a fortune.

Yes the original was awful - but no matter how good the remake is, that still won't make it true

Saw it last night was actully quite good i enjoyed some moments in it and it was good to see ryan renalRAB play a different role from comedy.

i jumped about 5 times which is odd for me

scarometer : 7/10

it was quite good better then hide and seek and boogyman i enjoyed it im a bit horror movie fan it no allows me to say after see in that horror films are gettin better but there was a bit of repetativeness in it

I really cannot believe in this day and age, with the vast amount of talented filmmakers, technology, and knowledge about the human mind and fear triggers that they still manage to be able to get away with releasing this repugnant dirge in the name of a motion picture.

Firstly, I don't understand remakes, they smack of a lack of respect for the originators first efforts, bad or not, I would find this offensive. What's worse, is if you make a remake, and if doesn't offer anything more than the original.

I am so glad I downloaded this, because if I had spent a fiver watching this at the cinema, I would have been kicking off asking for my money back.

What the hell has happened to Melissa George's teeth? She used to be a pretty little thing in Home and Away (Angel?) and suddenly seems to have acquired some Hollywood caps to make her resemble Mr Ed.

2/10 - and I gave it that because some people got shot in the beginning. There's more gore in Bedknobs and Broomsticks.

I saw noting wrong with the 'jumps' although you could guess when they were coming.

Good film though, that thing in the bathroom when Michael went to the toilet wasnt very nice!

I have heard people saying the remake makes the original look like a masterpiece lol, I'll wait till it's out to rent.

I saw it a couple weeks ago.

Im a huge wimp and i jumped about 4 times but i didn't even give it secound thought before i went bed and i was like thinking about it.

i think its brill ive seen it twice at the cinema once on the friday it came out and again on wednesday of this week

the first time i went on my own and jumped about 4 to 5 times, the movie its self didn't scare me but the myth did

the way i see it is if you know the true storie it will have lasting effects for that night, if you don't know the actualy storie a few boo! jumps is all your going to get out of it

i must say i loved it though very good BUT im sick of all the movies imatating the ring and the grudge but at least we have something other than scream to copy now thank god

btw people are saying it was cut now from what i remember the movie isnt cut in america or over here but not long befor it was released it was going to be cut in america to a PG-13 rating. and as far as i know it hasn't been cut

but this does not mean there wont be a directors cut of the movie when its released on DVD(which lol i will be buying)

oh and whilst im talking about directors cuts if anybody is thinking of buying the remake of the grudge DON'T the directors cut will be released in england soon just like in america

so my question is if the movies is cut and there is footage out there to bump it up to an 18 rating what does this footage involve if anybody knows. and im talking scene discriptions not oh there will be more gore

thank

oh and one more thing for the people who said that its pure hollywood NO s**t and about it making the original look oscar worthy well if you even belive that youve never seen the original dier in every respect of the word

Haven't they re-written the book too??? The ghost called Jody wasn't actually the ghost of the girl who was shot but turned out to be a pig-monster thingie.

When you think about it, the Lutzs were a bit cheeky to make up the ghost stuff (which I think has been proved now but don't quote me on it). The only reason this story was made famous was because of Ronald(?) Defoe who was mentally ill and murdered his family. Bit sick to make money out of it all really.

i seen this the other week and also enjoyed it, granted i didnt jump or find it scary...but ive yet to find any movie scary ..but thats more to do with me and not the movie makers. however i must say its hundred times better than the original because the original to be fair was just plain stupid with good coming out the walls. So whoever said the originals a masterpiece compared is a very harsh critic in my opinion.
