The Amazing World Of Gumball – News & Discussion Thread

Cartoon Network showed a short clip for Gumball at the upfront, but I'm concerned about the news that The Looney Tunes Show is going to premiere on Tuesday. I had hoped that it would have been the lead-in for Gumball, and with Gumball premiering at 7:30 PM, it's going to seem like the odd man out of the comedy block. Hopefully they advertise it heavily.

The designs for the characters look nice, yet weird at the same time, and that kind of works for me. I agree that it sounds like a seriously weird show, especially with a tyrannosaurus rex, a banana and a cheerleading peanut as characters, but it also sounds fun. I'll probably check it out just because it sounds so fun and weird.

Interesting. I think they could have uploaded a better clip, since first impressions are so important. I don't think the clip was bad, but it's an out-of-context chase scene when the series is a comedy. I am still somewhat concerned that the series will feel a bit out of place on the network, as it is more "childish", for lack of a better term, than the edgier cartoons now on the network. I hope that it will succeed none-the-less. I am also going to hope that the school setting isn't the primary setting, but it is what it is.

April is sooner than I expected. Odd that we're getting it before the UK, but I'm not complaining.

Kwesi Boakye attended the network’s Hall Of Game awards; this is yet another sign that the network is serious about the series. The article also mentions that it is going to premiere in the United Kingdom this May. Hopefully we get it before then, but if not, May isn’t that long of a wait. I just wish I knew why more people weren’t discussing this series. I know it hasn’t been officially announced, and if that happens at the upfront then perhaps more people will take notice, but still… Hopefully they release some information soon, especially some clips.

I've seen the clips, and I've got to say that the show looks great. The multimedia aspect is great, what with the mixing of the 3D and 2D animations. Even the 2D animated characters are drawn differently from each other, and the 3D looks smooth, even though we haven't seen very much of it.

Hopefully the once the new site's up, it can offer a lot more information than CN can. Donald Glover's tweet should be able to spread awareness for Gumball. Fame can go a long way in these kinds of situations. Can't wait to see what your interview with Ben will reveal, Hunstman.

Do you think perhaps because CN is likely getting the show in batches from the UK, that it will get 2 premieres a night at 7:30? Either way I hope it gets a strong lead-in but I guess Johnny Test is pretty strong if nothing else.

I check this thread whenever you get new info, if that makes you feel better. I just don't actively searching for this stuff.

I do like how the article did point out that the kid has an upcoming role, and that the show does have a premiere month planned out. Though, I do hope the HoG awards does point that little detail out.

Whoa, props to Donald "Troy Barnes" Glover for the free promotion. Can we expect some Gumball references in the next season of Community? :p

As for the promotional pic, well... I'm just gonna cross my fingers that this is just CN's marketing division misrepresenting a show and it's characters (which I think they've done many times in the past). I'll say that this does nothing to resolve my fears about the mom-dad dynamic.

I’ve found a lot of information today about various shows. I guess it’s my lucky day. However, out of all of the information that I found, this information was what I was most happy about. For one reason or another I’m really looking forward to this series and this is the first substantial character descriptions now available to the public. I just wish they would have included the information about the banana and the cheerleading peanut.

Perhaps. I'm not complaining if that's the case. I didn't like how Cartoon Network divided up Chowder and Flapjack premieres, and while they would only have twenty weeks worth of new episodes if they air them in batches, as a fan, I would prefer seeing two episodes a week. I just hope enough people watch it, but I recall Scooby-Doo Mystery Incorporated doing pretty well under similar circumstances.

Mod bump powers... activate!

Here are a bunch of new character descriptions. It does seem that the school will be the primary setting, but hopefully it's executed well enough so that won't be a problem. One of the main things I hated about Fish Hooks was the school setting, so... All I can do is hope for the best. It amuses me that Gumball has a crush on a peanut girl. :p

My guess is people don't take notice because there hasn't been much anything to talk about.

Though, whenever I post one of the images you find on my facebook Huntsman, there's usually someone who takes in interest in how creative and strange the show is. I agree that more people will take notice when it's revealed at the upfront.

That clip was interesting. I really liked how the different animation styles blended together well in that clip. I thought it was going to look awkward having all of them on at the same time, but this clip proved me wrong. The voices were pretty good as well. Though I do agree that there should have been a better clip
