YEah, if Looney Tunes is 15 minutes long, I expect the Monday line up to look sth similar to this:

7:00 - Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated
7:30 - The Looney Tunes Show
7:45 - The Amazing World Of Gumball
8:00 - Adventure Time
8:15 - MAD
8:30 - Regular Show
8:45 - The Problem Solverz
9:00 - [adult swim]

I thought the first clip that premiered during the After Party was pretty neat. Really liked the detail to animation when Gumball was pushing Tina's skin. It looked pretty realistic.

The karate clip was also entertaining. Oh kids, I remember doing something like that.

I personally don't need or want to see a whole lot of Penny centered plots. I'm not really into shipper stuff, and Penny, based on what (admittedly) little I've seen of her, doesn't seem all that interesting a character; so far she just comes off as a younger peanut version of Margaret from Regular Show: a plot device character who exists mainly to get the protagonist to do things that he shouldn't for comic effect. Time will tell of course, but as yet I don't see Penny adding a lot to the show. I need to be convinced that she's not going to be just another fill-in-the-blank cipher-ish secondary love interest character.

I mentioned this before in the international thread, and even blogged about it on rabroad, but I believe that this series is worth its own thread because it’s a pretty important project. It’s Cartoon Network Development Studio Europe’s first greenlit series and will air on Cartoon Networks worldwide. Despite being developed in Europe, one of the writers said that it will make use of U.S. voice talent.

And before people riot at the mention of “live-action”, it’s just going to be the backgrounds – similar to what “Sit Down, Shut Up” did. Regardless, this series looks and sounds quite bizarre, particularly due to the sentence that I underlined in the quote above. That is certainly an odd cast of characters. I feel that this series has a lot of potential.

I’ll keep this thread updated as I learn more, but the series likely won’t premiere until late 2011 or 2012.

I don’t think he’s “unlikable”. It’s just that Spaceman’s point about fathers being dumb, fat and lazy is a valid one. Hopefully Gumball’s father manages to avoid falling into those traps. I said my comments were based on what little I saw, and that is true; Gumball’s father was only in the clip for a handful of seconds. He had a high-pitched voice and wasn’t mean-spirited, and was more silly than anything. I just wasn’t particularly impressed by him in that scene. Perhaps my opinion on him will change when I see him in a more substantive role.

(The Huntsman, here's a comment.)
Tina is so beautiful. A perfect, photorealistic CGI theropod. I like the dark, detail-attentive lighting they give to the characters when they are trying to take the doll from Tina, along with other examples (such as characters in the car) in the clips presented---the characters blend in with the background, with the 2-D and 3-D contrast being a decorative seam. I find it notable how Gumball's mother's ears' drop when being serious. It is a nice animal-like touch. (I hope the ears of the Thundercats characters are not completely immobile; that the characters, other than the Thunerkittens if I heard correctly, lack any sort of tail is a bit of a disappointment.) Yes, the musical score is nice, and reminiscent of Pixar movies, particularly the Incredibles' jazz style.

No concrete premiere date has been set yet (as far as I know). The tentative US release date is said to be sometime in late 2011.

While I'm eagerly anticipating Gumball's arrival, I admit that I have some...concerns regarding the show's style and elements. For one thing, I hope the collage of different art and animation styles actually flows together and doesn't come as a random patchwork mish-mashing (mind you, the stop-motion and puppetry kind of worked on Chowder, so maybe I should just give the artists the benefit of the doubt). Second, I really hope that Gumball doesn't fall into the assembly line pigeon hole of being just another "trip-tacular adventures of another pair of dude-pals" show. I have nothing against "bros" or shows about dude-duos, but it would be nice to get a touch of variety once in a while. But again, the press releases have described the show as a sort-of surreal domestic comedy, so hopefully characters like Annais and Gumball's mum will get some some interesting things to do more than once in a blue moon.

I don't know if Gumball will be a revolution of content, but from the looks of it, it definitely will be a revolution of form.

So, the UK aired "The Mystery" but the official US premiere is airing "The DVD/The Responsible". So what's the situation here? Did the UK simply air different episodes for their premiere? Making me little confused here.

I think tonight was the best night of promotion the series has ever received. They aired a promo during the new episode of Brave And The Bold, Ultimate Alien and Generator Rex. Granted, DirecTV aired one of their commercials over top two of them, so people with that provider only got to see the one during Generator Rex. I hate it when DirecTV does that.

Okay. I wasn't entirely sure what exactly either of you meant about Richard being an "obnoxious slob father/husband character" and "didn't leave a good impression", so I just stated my opinion... but I did get a negative impression from you both, so I had to comment on that as well. With your newly made edit to your previous post, I know that you're not being negative ;). Now the only possible negative thing I can see about him is he might be boring, but I don't think that'll happen at all.

Hey, at least they actually like each other. The norm is having the non-reciprocated relationship like Chowder or the love covered by hate schtick from Hey, Arnold.

Also, I hadn't seen this image before, but given the sporadic nature of the show's promo material it wouldn't surprise me if it's actually rather old.

On the subject of Tina, when I first saw an image of her, I thought she was going to be photorealistic, but not actually animate. Like a cardboard cutout or something. I am honestly and pleasantly surprised that's not the case and that she's just as animated as the other characters.
