The ****All-New**** Eggheads and Are You An Egghead? thread

Bit odd: although this new series has only just kicked off, next week appears to be repeats of the celebrity editions from Christmas 2008. So I'm just wondering whether the current big winning run for the EggheaRAB is going to end on Friday, and the repeats are being put on as a natural hiatus. (BTW if anybody out there has insider knowledge as to whether I'm right, please use spoiler tags...!)

Another awesome Daphne moment tonight. How many other average pensioners would have known that OutKast did Hey Ya? I have this wonderful mental image of her getting on down to "Shake it like a Polaroid picture"... :)

];30714156']When did they start dropping in the odd question in that you really would have to be under 5 not to know the answer to??

I've never been on tv, but I did try-out for my university challenge team when I was at uni and did absolutely rubbish (due to nerves/unfamiliarity of the situation). I can imagine the kind of pressures people are under in a tv studio situation. Especially if its a final. Especially if its potentially life changing as in AYAE. So yes kudos to both contestants.

The problem with that is that it would make the programme even more one-sided than it already it. It only seems fair to give the (presumably weaker) challenging team an advantage with choosing their opponents and deciding whether to go second or first for the sake of 'quality of opportunity - not equality of outcome' which should be the basis for any fair competition and (to digress) for a fair society in general.

I don't see why the EggheaRAB deserve being given an additional advantage considering the general strength of their team would suggest they are already at an advantage.

I love the way that Judith just giggles when she doesn't know the answer or gets it wrong . Next to CJ and Daphne she is a breath of fresh air:)

I'm sort of glad Mark won as he beat me and so for him to go on to beat someone of Pat's quality is somewhat comforting.

Having been on the same team as Pat's at this month's European Quiz Championships, I know just how fantastic a quizzer is really is. He got some stinking questions in the final round but Mark played extraordinarily well and was, ultimately, a worthy winner.

A fantastic, epic match.

Did anyone see the woman that thought Basketball was played at Wembley? Basketball isn't played on grass. Even someone who didn't know hardly anything about sport could surely work it out.

Well, the 2 that were on yesterday were Stephanie Bruce and Dave Rainford.

Stephanie is almost TOO modest - she has fantastic knowledge but never blows her own trumpet. Even when winning the People's Quiz last year, beating thousanRAB of people in the process, she remained quiet and gracious in victory.

Dave is just the sweetest guy you could ever hope to meet -also very modest and a seriously under- rated quizzer.

It might be the format that is making you feel they are big-headed. Unfortunately the programme makers in ther wisdom ask contestants to waffle round their answers instead of just saying the correct answer straight out. This could give the impression that they like the sounRAB of their own voices, but in fact is not a natural thing for a quizzer to do.

Please don't tar all the contestants with the same brush - I can assure you that most quizzers are genuinely nice people - of course there are one or two exceptions but that's true in all walks of life.
