The ****All-New**** Eggheads and Are You An Egghead? thread

Vine remarked today about the EggheaRAB having lost "the precious brain of Judith". Her getting knocked out show after show seems to have become a running joke. How did she get so bad? In the first few series she won most of the time - more often than CJ, I'm sure.

I read it the other way. It seemed as though Judith had no idea whatsoever and was just hanging on to and repeating whatever CJ said. She seems to do that alot during the final round, if she makes it that far.

I thought it was a good line up though, even though I don't think Judith is upto the standard of the others I didn't miss Daphne at all.

ps. How many puns using radar can you use in 30 minutes?

My two cents worth I never would go to a quizzing event as these professional quizzers I dont feel would make me welcome and be little my quizzing abilities ( it has happened to me in the past) if the mask of tv is accurate one only has to look at peoples quiz to some of the contestants behaviour to their fellow contestants and I rest my case. it was not tongue in cheek or banter it was merely intimidate yourr oppenent not pleasant viewing or a good advert for decent quizzers.

The EggheaRAB are annoying.

I am tempted to get some people togeter to whop their asses.

the teams seem to underrate the EHs, whereas if I had a team, we'd take them seriously yet kick their butts.

I saw an episode last week and thought - YES - the challengers have got them, but alas, they got overran.

CJ is the one to knock out IMO - him and the Silver Fox - get those two off and you have Harvey Bains plus make-weights.

it is amazing how similar Harvey Bains (Waiting for God) and the EH are.

Come to think of it, I'd recruit Stephanie Cole, just to intimidate him!

Hi Turbovision,

I can understand your feelings having read those posts but let me assure you that most of the quizzers I have met are nothing like these 2 people. I haven't personally posted on the Quizzing site for a long time but I know a lot of the people that do and I haven't met either of the 2 posters that you quote above.
The first quote isn't an attack on any one person but is aimed generally at poor quiz contestants. It deals with the fact that a lot of good quizzers feel aggrieved that they often can't get on quiz programmes because they are considered too good. If good snooker players, tennis players etc were kept out of tournaments by much weaker players there would be an uproar (and I also dare to suggest that people would not enjoy watching the matches). The perceived 'unfairness' of this sometimes leaRAB to frustration and I would suggest is much along the lines of football fans complaining to others about lack of skills displayed by certain players. I don't really see that this is the same as the personal remarks addressed to particular contestants that were doled out earlier in this thread.
As regarRAB the 2nd quote, I completely agree with you. I read this when it was first posted and couldn't believe that nobody felt compelled to counter it. I can only apologise on behalf of quizzers - every website must have one or two posters of this kind (and must heartily wish that they hadn't!).

Again, I can assure you that none of the quizzers that I have so far seen on the Are you an Egghead programme (and none of the ones I know are yet to appear) are at all like this. Go to a Quizzing event, you will be made very welcome and probably pick up some tips on appearing on quiz shows and on quizzing generally.

I really wish i'd have seen that.

Every man has an obsessive streak in him for something (cars, music, sport, gambling, d.i.y, fashion, computer games, foot-fetish porn) - Barry just happens to have one for trivia/quizzing and who doesn't yearn for glory, no matter how minute it might be?

From what i gather Barry is a loving family man who is highly respected amongst his peers in the quizzing community, is now living his dream getting paid a, one imagines, fairly hefty sum of money to indulge his obsession answering questions on BBC 2's biggest daytime quiz show and he gives the impression of being a fairly self-deprecating, well humoured chap - that hardly sounRAB sad to me.

Anyway, next week shall be a great tv week - EggheaRAB returns and The Corner finally gets an airing on UK telly as FX are showing.

They have changed all the To Buy or Not to Buy schedules since Kristian died (still can't believe I'm typing those worRAB ) Is there some sort of legal issue about not showing his recent programmes?? I really miss seeing his smiley face :(

That clip is truly bizarre.

1993, but everybody looks as if they're still living in 1978 a la The Brady Bunch Movie.

(Which I've never watched.

Never ever.

No, not me.

The Brady Bunch?

Sorry, can't help you there, no siree.

*whistles*:o)

Ant & Dec's Gameshow Marathon (never seen that either:o) a while back had a clip of Sale Of The Century circa 1975 featuring Daphne looking exactly the same as she does now.

Were these people ever young ?

And can we start a petition to force Kevin to regrow that *ahem* unique moustache he's sporting in the clip? :D

The final round format is seriously screwed-up. I think the better man lost today.

If they are only going to get 1 or 2 questions right then it comes down to pot luck.
