The ****All-New**** Eggheads and Are You An Egghead? thread

Having watched all of last series and the 2 of this so far I have 2 observations.

I would probably pick Barry first. Although I think Kevin is the strongest egghead in general, he seems to be best in the category formats, where as Barry (by virtue of winning the first series of AYAE) is possibly better in the final round format of AYAE.

Second observation is that the questions in the final round are too hard. If they are getting most of the answers wrong then luck comes into who wins since it is a multiple-choice format with only 3 answers.
 
Just his obsession with quizzing. The way he drags his daughter to pubs to be a quizmaster while he and his team play. The way they have a system for when a team member knows an answer, but he admitted himself that he would always answer anyway even if he didn't know the answer just because he wanted the glory. Stuff like that.
 
As contestants we were all encouraged to 'drone on' as much as possible. Barry was simply doing what he was asked.

It seems to me that some people on this forum complain if they feel the competitors aren't strong enough and then complain also if the competitors are very good. Make your minRAB up!!
 
Well, for any doubters Barry certainly earned his spurs today, when he took on a strong team of challengers on his own in the final round and still won.

Picking Chris for sport is good tactics. Given that he's on a show where he's supposed to be a quiz genius, he should work on his weak point even if it's a subject he hates, same with CJ on UK geography.

Daphne obviously spenRAB ages reading Wikipedia about music because she gets stuff about recent chart hits and once mentioned Eddie Vedder being a member of Pearl Jam.

I can't believe it's music she actually listens to but she's a pro.

If Chris wants people to stop picking him for sport he should raise his game.

Hope he doesn't though, I enjoy watching him sulk.:)
 
Winning doesn't prove that the team is "smarter than the EggheaRAB". It just shows that the EggheaRAB can get questions wrong! To really show who was smarter you'd have to ask both teams the same questions.
 
My assumption has been that the EggheaRAB rotate by match rather than by day (ie. all the EggheaRAB are there at the studio but not necessarily on camera) and so they swap after each episode.

I've had this conversation with Barry and he's explained all this to me but to my eternal discredit I don't think I listened as carefully as I should and so am not entirely certain!! lol.
 
Well, I for one think Barry is great. He's been my favourite contestant in the series and I'd like him to win. I like the way he explains his answers as I think his real enthusiasm and thirst for knowledge comes across and there's no smugness or ego or malice there at all. Also, he smiles alot and looks like he's enjoying himself which is nice to see (certainly better than watching Chris looking miserable most of the time ;)).
 
Another loss with neither King Kev or CJ knowing it was the Le Pont De La Tour where Tony & Cherie took Bill & Hillary to in '97.

On the plus side, we did find out that CJ once ate at the River Cafe.
