The Actor Who Never Made A Bad Movie

Well, a movie like Troy has to be judged two ways:

-As a movie
-As an adaptation

The movie, had it been an original script, would've been very good.

And since it wasn't really an adaptation of history (hence the "inspired by"), more like a "version of...", it did pretty well in that category too.

Just to throw out some names:

Gerard Butler
Jake Gyllenhaal
Rachel McAdams
Jack Nicholson
Keanu Reeves
Drew Barrymore
Cary Grant
Audrey Hempburn

I do like her in Lost in Translation and Match Point, so I don't exactly agree, but the girl has made some awful movies.

Hey, but as we've learned big boobs can get your far in Hollywood.

I still have to say that hulk is a bad movie, so that takes edward out of the list.

And all the movies i've seen with john cusack has been good, but i haven't seen that many, so you may be right there.

I don't think kirsten dunst have made any bad movies. even Get Over It is good...

As far as Meryl Streep is concerned, she's knocked out by The She-Devil and Death Becomes Her. She got an Oscar nomination out of Music of the Heart but her performance aside, the critics panned it.

John Cazale

He was a great actor.

Funny I came across this thread, since I was having this very conversation with someone this morning. :)

I have a lot of catching up to do.

As for Scott Speedman.....I love Underworld. But who was he in the movie? I don't own it yet or I would look myself.

I don't like Daniel Day Lewis or Sean Connery. Personally, I couldn't stand Last of the Mohicans and I don't see why everyone made such a big deal about it. I have not liked any movies with Sean. There is just something about him that bugs the hell out of me.

And Colin Farrell......what about the movie Phone Booth?? I haven't seen it yet but I haven't heard anyone say anything good about it.

I love Edward Norton. Right now I can't think of one movie that may have been bad. American History X is one of my favorites and he was really awesome in Fight Club.

Daniel Day-Lewis I thougth of, but others in the thread have pointed out the (relative) disappoinment of The Ballad of Jack and Rose so I don't know. Edward Norton... I'm not so familiar with his stuff but he was in The Italian Job wasn't he? And his character was cringe-inducingly bad. I know he didn't want to do it and only did it out of contractual requirements but still, that's got to count him out.

Natalie Portman... love her but she was terrible in the Star Wars prequels, along with everyone else in it. The prequels were just horrible. :( Yeah Nicole Kidman, wish I could say her as well but she's had her fair share of flops. Oh well. Meryl Streep? I don't know - can't quite remember what she's done offhand.

Ohhh, this is a tough one! I have to think about it and then comeback with a contribution.

I actually thought of Orlando Bloom but I thin Ned Kelly got mild reviews and I haven't seen it.

Can you name one? My boy and I were talking it up at Hooters the other night and we have effectively eliminated just about any actor. We only covered actors at this point, no actresses. No one has measured up yet. Soem criteria does apply, we call it the Keanu rule, basically you're judged on your track record, if you make crap movies ie Keanu, your margin for error is smaller, since if a scale of 1-10 puts your movies at a 4, you don't have to put up mega hits each time, so Keanu clears most movies, but then you see Point Break and you say damn, you suck! So, with that you take someone like Sean Connery, love him,... loved him as King Arthur,.. but First Knight was abit of crap,... off goes Connery. Get it? And so, we have eliminated everyone we could possible think of. Of course, this is opinionated 100%, as some people think The Grudge was great, others think it is crap, so we go with a general concensus on a movie.

The last to fall from our lists, don't laugh, we had a drunken final four after 5 hours, the 4 were Michael Douglas, Ving Rhames, John Cusack and Kevin Bacon, but the following day each was kicked to the curb with crap like Night At McCools, Mission Impossible, Being John Malkovich, and Tremors. Just that simple! lmao. Anyway, find us someone who has NEVER made a bad movie. Role might be great, but movie sucked, he's gone. Must be in at least 5 movies, one hit wonders need not apply :)
