The AC on my 02 Ford Excursion stopped blowing cold air; What can be wrong with it?

I've been told that it could be something simple like adding fluid or recharging. When I turn the dial on, it does work, but the air just doesn't get cold. I noticed it this week when I took it to work. What is the average price to recharge my AC?
 
You could probably recharge it yourself, if all you need is an R-134 charge.

If your compressor is no good, that's a little more involved. Kits of R134 with hose and all are probably about $40.
