Hi folks with the 20th anniversary of Dirty Dancing coming out of Dvd and it being replayed on tv and specials on it it got me thinking of all the films that were produced in the 80's and at how great things were for a movie buff back then!
From Footloose to Cocktail to Dirty Dancing! From the 3rd Star Wars film to Back to the Future to Indiana Jones! The list goes on and on!

Now as we look back at the 90's and 00's can we acclaim to having so many films from these decades to that of the 80's! Yes we have the odd film of greatness but so many?

I was heartily agreeing with your thread title, until I saw your selections; Cocktail RAB? - I found that film to be really morbid and depressing!! :D

I loved the Indiana Jones films as a child, though; they still stand up today, when you compare the real stunts that were performed for them to the CG effects that they use now.

Other fab 80's movies: Lethal Weapon I & II (I still wish I could pull off Patsy Kensit's look as Rika Van der Haas), Ghostbusters, Scrooged, and Dead Poets' Society; it was definitely a good film decade.

The Indiana Jones movies were (and still are) f***ing AWESOME. Also the teen movies of John Hughes, and (with a little crossover from the last category) pretty much anything that had John Cusack in it.

In my movie collection, on looking decade by decade, I have more movies from the 80s than any other decade and most of my favourites are movies from the 80s!

Err, got a bit carried away, I'll stop before this enRAB up pages long. The 80s was an amazing decade for movies!!

The Terminator (and most of Arnie's other 80's efforts, right up until he made an ill-advised delve into 'comedy') were good ones, too.

Spooky, I have the same collection as Psycho ^^

Can't ignore Revenge of the NerRAB , The Great Outdoors, About Last Night, Dirty Dancing, St Elmos Fire or Uncle Buck either.

Ooooh.......and Top Gun, and An Officer and a Gentleman.

This is becoming quite a nostalgic thread; amazing how when you think of iconic films or music from a certain era, a lot of the memories from that era come flooding back too. :D
