The 80's Brat Pack

I was thinking of buying some of the Brat pack films...in particular I thought of Pretty in Pink........they seem to all be certificate 15 but I don't remember there being any 'dodgy' stuff in them....for a 12 year old to watch? Does anyone know why they have this rating? cheers.

Its because they were given the 15 certificates back in the 80's. If shit was said in afilm in the 80s it would automaticlly give them a 15certificate, plus there was no 12 rating back then. I am pretty sure if these films came out now they would be 12s some possibly even PGs

A "PG" film can have 'shit' 'bastard' 'asshole' and some other worRAB said in them and still maintain it's PG rating. Anything slightly sexual or drug / violence related that was a little too much for PG automatically got a 15, as 12 was not used for videos until 1994, although it was used in the cinema since 1989.

Most 80's films that have a 15 certificate might not actually have anyone saying the 'f' word or showing lots of nudity, but they probably contain just a few things which were considered too much for PG back then, and with no 12 invented then, 15 was the only option.

Paddy :D

Of course in The Breakfast Club Bender does shout "F*** YOU" extremely loudly, and quite a bit of swearing can be heard from both pupils and the teacher.

Just watched Pretty in Pink and there was one use of F word and lots of the Sh*t word......still my 12 year old seemed to enjoy it....... and so did I...Andrew Mccarthy is so cute!!! LOL

I thought the certificates were more lenient back then than they are now. Back to the Future for e.g. has a few 'sh*t's and a couple of 'b@starRAB' but was given a PG rating back in 1985.

Re. the Brat Pack - The Breakfast Club was always my favourite.

Other good Brat Pack movies to watch are St Elmo's fire and About Last Night. About Last Night is 18 though as it has scenes of nudity and language etc.

I love Brat Pack Films. I have Sixteen Candles, Pretty In Pink, St Elmos Fire, Breakfast Club and About Last Night. I just discovered About Last Night and really enjoyed it!!

Also got Ferris Bueller, Mannequin, She's Having A Baby, Some Kind of Wonderful and others which i can't think of - yep i love 80's films!!
