Well if we choose to focus on their current performance, then they're certainly in better shape than they were four years ago. They've stopped going crazy with their money, and they're sticking to a formula that works - creating their own shows and also licensing marketable foreign property. However, their re-editing of 5D's is still a bit too excessive for my liking.
I think their biggest problem is that they have a large ego. Obviously losing Pokemon and to a lesser extent One Piece has detracted from this a bit, but even the way they conduct their business - they edit their shows "in advance" for foreign territories - they make themselves out to be this giant anime licensor when they really aren't. They distribute Yugioh and they distribute Dinosaur King. That's it.
