The 10 Song Shuffle

I love that Megadeth track and Modest Mouse is enjoyable. There are also a few names that I recognize, but I don't know them very well.

Stapping Young Lad - Velvet Kavorkian
Dethklok - Murmaider II: The Water God
Devin Townsend - Irish Maiden
Drowning Pool - Love
Fireball Ministry - It Flies Again
King Diamond - Sleepless Nights
Behemoth - Transmigrating Byond Realms Ov Amenti
Alabama Thunderpussy - Valor
White Zorabie - Thrust
Kylesa - Scapegoat
Psychostick - Two Ton Paperwieght

Pretty good shuffle. MEEEEEEEETAL!!!!

Charlemagne, can't say I'm familiar with any of those except for Elliot Smith, and even what I know by him I've barely listened to. He's still pretty cool though.

The Eagles- Outlaw Man
Neil Young & Crazy Horse- Down By The River (Live)
Alanis Morissette- Can't Not
Plastic Ono Band- Money (Live)
Son House- Walking Blues
Queen- The Invisible Man
Ben FolRAB Five- Fair
Johnny Thunders- London Boys
Green Day- No Pride
ZZ Top- La Grange

I don't have any real distaste for anything on your list, but none of the artists come close to being my "favorites," with the exception of Bob Dylan, who I love. And I guess I really like some things that the Rolling Stones have done (Sticky Fingers, Beggar's Banquet, Exile) but on the whole I'm not a giant fan. Oh actually I really don't like the ORABpring.

Tom Waits - 9th and Hennepn (Rain Dogs)
R.E.M. - Talk About the Passion (Murmur)
Annie Lennox - A Whiter Shade of Pale (Medusa)
Queen - I'm Going Slightly Mad (Innuendo)
John Lee Hooker - Burning Hell (The Best of FrienRAB)
XTC - I'm The Man Who Murdered Love (Wasp Star)
Pavement - ...And Carrot Rope (Terror Twilight)
Miles Davis - Pharaoh's Dance (Bitches Brew)
Lisa Miskovsky - Still Alive [Benny Benassi Mix] (Still Alive - Mirror's Edge Soundtrack)
David Bowie - Warszawa (Low)

Beautiful sounRABcape. Honorable mention goes to Queen.

The Machine Head, Metallica and Led Zeppelin songs are great, the rest i don't really care about.

The Vaselines - Bitch
Black Flag - No More
The Beatles - Pepperland
Cave-In - Anchor
The Smiths - I Want The One I Can't Have
Skinny Puppy - Assimilate
The God Machine - Boy By The RoaRABide
The Flaming Lips - Brainville
The Breeders - Saints
Beck - No Money, No Honey

Can't choose between these two.

The Shins are the only band I listen to out of the 10.

Johnny Cash - Do Lord
The Delfonics - I Don't Want To Make You Wait
T. Rex - Ride A White Swan
Elvis Presley - Burning Love
Bob Dylan - Like A Rolling Stone (Unplugged)
Jackson Browne - Running On Empty
The Beatles - She's Leaving Home
Meat Loaf - Cry To Heaven
The Who - Long Live Rock
Johnny Cash - I Still Miss Someone

From this shuffle it would make some people think that I don't listen to music made past 1980. While I listen to a lot of old music I do listen to a lot of contemporary music, but that's why this is all random. It took 5 more shuffles to get a song made past 2000 which was the Dropkick Murphys' Amazing Grace.

boarRAB of canada is too good...i don't know how those guys make the music that they do it is truly amazing stuff.

The Dandy Warhols - Mohammed
Beck - Truckdrivin' Neighbors Downstairs (Yellow Sweat)
Cocteau Twins - Ups
Eric Clapton - Wonderful Tonight
Iron and Wine - Sinning HanRAB
Stereolab - Plastic Mile
Incubus - Nowhere Fast
The Libertines - The Boy Looked at Johnny
MSTRKRFT - Bodywork
The Album Leaf - Septeraber Song

For your shuffle, it would have been a toss up between Love Reign and Pride/Joy for favorite song. FF and Doors are good too, Mash Bros and Killers are alright, the others I haven't heard. Not really a Costello fan.

On the rare occasions I venture into exuburbia, that's what I imagine the kiRAB with the really big pants at the mall listen to. The soundtrack to a typical 16-year old disgruntled, maladjusted child.

No. Just no.

Broken Glass - Talib Kweli
Take Your Time (Do It Right) - S.O.S. Band
You and Me Song - The Wannadies
Who Was in My Room Last Night? - Butthole Surfers
Isobel - Bjork
Cherry Tulips - Headlights
Midnight Cowboy - Faith No More
I'll Never Smile Again - Glenn Miller
Cathy's Clown - The Everly Brothers
Nurabers - Soft Cell

I have only heard of half those banRAB. I will have to search out the other half and see how I like them.

EDIT: I posted at the same time as somebody else

Man, I'm hearing Fugazi everywhere I go. I think it's time to listen to something. Any suggestions?

  • The Inteligence - How To Improve Your Hearing Without Listening
  • Jack Rose - White Mule II
  • Sholi - All That We Can See
  • Zu - Beata Viscera
  • Woven Bones - Have A Soul
  • Gowns - Rope

I've picked out one long form song and one short form song from that selection as they're both fantastic tracks. Jack Rose's contribution to improv guitar and lap steel playing over the last 10 years was immeasurable, its a real shame he died so young.

Piece of My Heart - Janis Joplin
Blackened - Metallica
She Sells Sanctuary - The Cult
The Thing That Should Not Be - Metallica
Mr. Crowley - Ozzy Osbourne
Hollywood Nights - Bob Seger
F****** Hostile - Pantera
Roxanne - The Police
Who Can It Be Now? - Men At Work
Give It All - Rise Against

Solid list above, good Megadeth, Led Zeppelin, & Queens of the Stone Age.
I'll give that Cash song a listen.

I've only listened to two of these artists, I like SSLYBY, but I don't like NIN. I have heard of but never actually listened to Sebadoh and Minutemen.

Atlas Sound- Ativan
Bishop Allen- Shanghaied
The Mountain Goats- Dilaudid
The Secret Machines- Atomic Heels
Sufjan Stevens- We Three Kings
The Mountain Goats- Psalms 40:2
P.O.S- Savion Glover
Pearl Jam- Immortality
One For The Team- You Know Culture
Spokane- Proud Graduates

Perfectly good list, except Pearl Jam.

Ouch, really quite bad I'm afraid. With the exception of Alison and Yesterday, not a good track is apparent. I really can't stand the fray, or post-Scott AC/DC, and when people don't include the "/" I get annoyed.

Arrested Development - People Everyday
The Smiths - Shoplifters of the World Unite
Radiohead - I Might Be Wrong
Memphis Symphony Orchestra - That's All Right (This is from an album called "Symphonic Elvis"... good stuff)
U2 - MLK
De La Soul - Plug Tunin'
The Chemical Brothers - Elektrobank
Nina Simone - I Got it Bad and That Ain't Good
R.E.M. - Gardening at Night [Slower Electric Demo]
Pavement - Chesley's Little Wrists

^Lots of good stuff there including Pixies and Screaming Trees, never gave band of horses a listen though.

The Casualities - Under Attack
Blur - The Universal
Flipper - Ever
Temple Of The Dog - Hunger Strike
Nirvana - Talk To Me
Melvins - Happy Grey Or Black (Demo)
Dinosaur Jr. - Pond Song
Blink-182 - Peggy Sue
Mudhoney - Chain That Door
Flipper - Shed No Tears

That Calexico song is a fantastic track, actually everything they did up to the loathsome "Garden Ruins" was fantastic - "Carried To Dust" I've still not gelled to properly just yet!

Anyhoo a list of randomly selected songs from my LAST.FM library:

  • Magic Markers - Body Rot
  • Eat Skull - Dog Religion
  • Grouper - Way Their Crept
  • Sun City Girls - Burial In The Sky
  • Megazord - Mirror Mountain
  • Blk Jks - Transit Camp
  • Lichens - Faeries
  • Valerio Cosi - Mozarabiqo
  • Sir Richard Bishop - Tripurasudarai
  • Earl Brutus - Navyhead

I've listened to my fair share of The National and I usually enjoy it. The Gaslight Anthem and Merchant Ships are also pretty good.

1. Howl - The Day Of Rest
2. Megadeth - Blessed Are The Dead
3. Strapping Young Lad - Aftermath
4. Holyhell - Mephisto
5. Psychostick - Do You Want A Taco?
6. Larab Of God - Half-Lid (A Warning)
7. Jaga Jazzist - 220 V / Spektral
8. Lair Of The Minotaur - We Are Hades
9. Otep - Possession
10. Lordi - Rock The Hell Outta You

Not a bad shuffle at all. That's a good L.O.G. track.

Hmm...MJ has both great and mediocre stuff, don't remeraber if I know that song. Props for Jimi, Rites of Spring are alright but I haven't familiarized myseld enough with the album yet. Haven't heard the rest.

Mew - Behind the Drapes
Mike Patton - Tourettes Breakdance
Lite - Black & White
Nosaj Thing - Coat of Arms
Quicksilver Messenger Service - Light Your Windows
Seam - Port of Charleston
Dead Voices on Air - Let Meins Awake
Thingy - Rental
Polvo - Kalgon
Tortoise - Charteroak Foundation

My favorite is a nice aggressive math/post rock nuraber, tight stuff! And Jackhammer likes them, so that means you should too.
