"Thanksgiving For Animation" Thread '07

Since it's Thanksgiving, and all of us are so grateful for what we think are the truly great things in life, we cannot forget to give thanks to the animated series that have touched our hearts (and made us hate them) during all these decades! So I've created a special thread for just that. They can be your favorite shows, or ones you like, cancelled or not, past or present. Do it your way!

Here's my gratitude I can think of right now:

The Emperor's New School - It has been nearly two years since you moved from big-screen to grace the small-screen, and yet I can't think of any other series I know that has overcame a number of obstacles over this particular timespan and is still going strong. Even when you attemped to make us laugh and you didn't succeed, you still managed to keep a smile on most of our faces and get your morals across. Sure, you may have had a shaky start, but what show hasn't? The wounds from your first season being remarkably healed into blessings from your second season have turned you from a show that most people said couldn't into a show that could. For that, we, the fans, are thankful.

BUT...we can't forget TENS's precessor (IMO)...

Kim Possible - (I know it may be a little late for praising this show, but bear with me here...) From the date of your premiere more than five years ago up until your ORIGINAL cancellation date in spring of 2005, you have not only placed upon us a tremendous amount of humor, action, and life lessons, but you have also placed upon us an exceptional role model that so many of our young ladies need today, and not because she was an overly famous rock star (like someone else on Disney we all know), but because she was there for people and never asked for anything in return. Then in early 2007 you were risen from the grave and continued to grace our hearts once again, until your finale later that year. Thus, to quote a strongly dedicated fan of this show: "Kim Possible wasn't just a show; it was an EXPERIENCE." You will surely go down in TV history as a legend amongst American animation. For that, we, the fans, are thankful.

(Okay, I'm sorry if this was Disney-filled, but I'm all out of words for now! I'm going to add on to this thread as soon as some words come to mind!)

For the shows above, and any I may have missed: Let's all give thanks to the great classic animation, and the remaining great modern animation in a time of animation-deficiency. :anime:

What about you? What shows do you want to give thanks for? Feel free to post!

Well, it’s not really in the same manner that you designed the thread for, but I’m thankful Yin-Yang-Yo! is getting a second season. I mean, the show is actually entertaining, but if you look at just about any Yin-Yang-Yo! thread on this forum, you’ll see nothing but a hoard of negative comments. I’m not sure when the second season is going to debut, but maybe this time, people will give the show a fair shake instead of instantly bashing it for stupid reasons. I mean, many people refused to watch the show because it was animated in flash. What type of two-bit animation aficionado would refuse to watch something based on a preconception that was based on something as trivial as that? But hey, if people want to be shallow, that’s fine by me. I’ll watch the show’s second season and I’ll likely enjoy it. At any rate, again, that’s what I’m thankful for. Good shows deserve a second season, even when most people are too busy bashing the show to realize that it’s actually kind of good.

I'm thankful John Lassetter is head of Disney Animation.

I'm thankful for Studio 4C, and particularly Michael Arias for being the first American to make a movie in Japan.

I'm thankful that Nickelodeon hasn't screwed themselves up the way CN has.

I'm thankful for

Teen Titans
FLCL
Avatar
and various Studio Ghibli films

For touching my heart and/or sparking my intellect in various ways.

Okay, now I feel like I have the proper words to give thanks to my #1 favorite classic cartoon:

Tom & Jerry - For more than 60 years, you have bestowed upon us a cat-and-mouse duo to bring some silliness and craziness into everyone's lives. From their original toons to their 1970's Saturday morning series to their current Saturday morning series, we've seen these two sidekicks get themselves in over-the-top situations, bringing us good old-fashioned humor, even if some of it was a little too violent. For that, we, the fans, are thankful.

That's all I have right now! When I think of more shows I like or love, then I'll post more.
