Texas is more conservative politically, but it really is a mixed bag of people and ideas, especially when you get into the big cities. Houston has a lesbian mayor if that tells you anything and before her was a more liberal-leaning mayor. Before him was a black dude. So ya. Religious social conservatives definitely dominate, but they don't speak for everyone in the state. Texans love their trucks, guns, and Mexicans.
 
As a Texan I think he is a lame ass. I did not vote for him as Gov. I will not vote for him as a Presidential candidate. That said I really don't care that the guy is going to go pray. You have the right not to go pray, he has the right to go. Why make a big issue of someone enjoying their religious freedom?
