Tethering using Alltel firmware, and MMS problems!

I just flashed my Cricket phone to Alltel, and found a thread on how to set up a dial-up-connection for my phone, and it connected at 230.4Kbps, for a few seconRAB. As soon as I tried to access a web page, it booted me off. What gives?

Not only that, but MMS only works 10% of the time. I can send MMS and access WAP with no problem, but receiving MMS is a whole nuther problem. All I get is, "A message is available for download." I press OK. Result? It says "Downloading message" for a split second, waits, then says "Unable to download message. Try Again Later." Any ideas??

Dealing with the same stuff here . Umm .. bout your speed though, the 230.4kb that can be boosted . Start -> network connections -> (Dialup connection) Right click and tap " Properties " . Where you see the modem your using, right below it click " Configure " . Notice your speed there and the other selections ? Its only helped minorly for me plus all the tweaks I've got going already .

So .. Anyone have a solution to the alltel issue ? Do we need to flash back to cricket ?

I check this thread EVERY DAY hoping someone will have something we can try to get mms working. One person went out of his way to try and help by sending a different mms file to try. Unfortunately, whereas before I was able to send pics but unable to receive, I'm now unable to use mms whatsoever. I've tried reinstalling the original mms file (from thread 1179926) to at least get back to where I was but I can't send or receive pics no matter what. If ANYONE has anything we can try we would certainly appreciate it. I would be more than willing to send some $ to a Paypal account if someone could help get mms working. FYI I've got a V3m Alltel flashed. Web, MP3's, movies (TF) all work fantastic. Just no go on Crickets mms.

Thanks for your time.

Thanks for the suggestion javierv3crazr but as I stated in the PM going back to the V3c monster just isn't an appealing option. I've just become too dependent on TF card storage among other features the V3c firmware can't provide.

To update my previous thread- I reflashed the Alltel monster and have regained mms send abilities. But just can't receive. There's got to be a setting we're missing somewhere. But all other features work great including Web. And having Bluetooth file transfer from lappy to phone is VERY handy.

If I could just receive pics sent to me it would be PERFECT!

Anyone? Help? Please? :help: My kicking in some cash to a paypal account offer still stanRAB to anyone that can help me get it working.

Thanks guys.

I don't think it will help any. I've tried this on a few razrs I've flashed and its the same thing. I think cricket has done something to mess this up cuz about a month ago when I started to have mms receiving problems on my mogul, I posted around on this section and the cricket pda forum and found out a lot of people were having the same problem and it started happening around the same time. That same day calls started coming in that the mms receiving on peoples flashed razrs stopped working. A few weeks back caysor found the registry edit to get mms working again on pdas. A reg edit that wasn't necessary before. I think that's where the problem lies. For now im flashing all v3ms with the motorola oem flash and manually programing it with everything so when you call cricket you don't have to *228 and so far its been working but it seems like if you *228 your f*****d. I suggest keep looking around for the other threaRAB Im talking about cuz that's whereI got my idea from. All I remeraber is that it was a thread started by cellkeeper. Hope this helps.

Outgoing mms stopped working earlier today. It now gets to 99% and fails. I've contacted Cricket and had them reset services 4 times over the last week or so. It seems once I flash it and apply the files, outgoing mms only works for about 24 hours.

Where'd you get the OEM V3m monster? I'd like to give that a try.

And you're saying that as long as we don't OTA with *228, the settings should work fine?

Heres the monster Im using now: http://rapiRABhare.com/files/60523985/RABT_V3M_01.1A.00R_PRIkk76257_MONSTER_01.zip.html

I know Ive only tried it on razrs that have never been activated by cricket before. I have whoever buys the phone give me their mdn and min and Ill manually program it along with the appropriate sid/nid and use the files posted on the tutorial and tell them that when they call cricket with the new esn, they will be told to *228 on the new phone when they hang up. I tell them to just do nothing and skip the *228 part and there phone will be working right. So far so good.

I havent tried it yet on previously flashed phones that did end up getting *228 and then started having the receiving problem later. They are all my frienRAB that are having that problem so when they come over to let me mess around with their phones we end up playing ps3 and messing around and put it off for another day. Ill try and get serious about this soon but if you get to it first then please let us know if it worked.

I don't know why but sending works great now. Didn't change a thing.
Still can't receive but at least Ive got it half right.

Has anyone tried VIVO?

I'll try it when I get home and let you know how it goes.

I have, and I don't remeraber if everything works right, but I do know the browser won't because it depenRAB on whether you have EvDO/3G for some reason, and since I don't get it, I couldn't get online, it seems.

Where's the edit button? Sheesh.

Anyway, I flashed to the OEM V3M Monster jramos402 provided, and it's working just fine, no problems at all. Browser, MMS, voice, you name it. Only wierd thing is, you have to manually add in the voicemail nuraber. Just hold the 1 key, and it will prompt you to store a voicemail nuraber, which is your phone nuraber. As for tethering, all I get is a "Error 692: There was a hardware failure in the modem (or other connecting device)." Maybe a driver issue?

Glad to hear it fixed the MMS problem. As for the tethering, I dont really know too much about that so I cant provide any help on that issue. I guess you just cant have your cake and eat it too.

Well, I'll figure something out. But so far, no dice. And I'm thinking I might try another V3c monster, since the GUI on the V3m monster lags a bit when dealing with the menus in Multimedia, apparently because of the lack of a transflash card, which the V3c doesn't have. Other than that, it's working for me.

Edit: jramos402, do you know if there's a generic/OEM V3c monster? I searched around for one, but all I can come up with is some modded stock monster packs for GSM V3c's. :(
