Tethering issue with TMO 8100 OS v4.2.1.107

How many T-Mobile Pearl users are having modem tethering problems since upgrading to v4.2.1.107?

I have hit two problems so far, and am interested to know if they are common or not...

Modem initialization string:
so far, only +cgdcont=1,"IP","wap.voicestream.com" works for the initialization string... I do not much understand why this changed, and I guess it does not matter, though in the past I found that the connection string given to me by my IT department resulting in a better connection (we used AT+CGDCONT=1,,"wap.voicestream.com" )

Re-connection errors:
In addition to taking much longer to connect/authenticate, I have been unable to reconnect when the connect drops (either due to server dropping me, taking a phone call, or bumping the USB cable and briefly losing the link). When I try to reconnect, I receive a "server not responding" error... sounds like maybe the phone won't re-initialize the interupted modem.
I spent way too long on the phone with T-Mobile, as they convinced me to try re-installing everything and reconfiguring, but I received no solution to the reconnect problem...

So here is the deal - I have to do a battery pull every time I lose my network connection by any method other than telling the computer to disconnect.

Any thoughts? Anyone having different problems?

Instead of doing a battery pull...have you tried turning your wireless signal off and back on? I know this doesn't fix the initial problem, but it may help you save some time until someone else can help more...let me know if it works...

I use the second command you posted... The 'at+...' And today I was connected for about an hour. Longest since upgrading. Usually it is only 5 min (since upgrading) and once I do get booted it is the same...I have to pull the battery. That is with my pc

My Mac I can't even get connected. I did one day for about 5 min so I know it can be done but it won't work!

is your desktop manager usually running before you tether? if not, i would suggest running it first before making any connections.

No problems here. Steady connection at 115.2 kbps. Actually improved speed from the .64 software at 114 kbps.

Thank you for the suggestion!... this appears to help some of the times - though not every time - that I lose the connection... I haven't identified a pattern yet as to why it only helps occasionally, but I will post again when I get more information.

Brief update-
After several days of pulling my battery and toggling my radio on and off, and even laughing when I get the error message "modem and server could not agree on PPP protocol", I think I am finally throwing in the towel.

The .107 OS is a little smoother and all, but the very easily upsetable tethering situation is too much - and besides, I never had any problems with .64 that were worth mentioning...

I think I am going to downgrade after work tomorrow. Oh well... Maybe Tmo will remedy the issue eventually.

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~ I've tryed twice and I'm 0 for 2. I keep getting stuck and the verifying password screen any ideas? I went threw the steps but it didn't work so I deleted the connection and did it again but no luck.
