So you can use the TV (if it has a vga connection) to display your mac screen etc.. but you also have to go into the mac setting and choose system properties/detect diaplys etc..
So i guess if your testing a suspecting dead mac laptop screen your can't do it on a TV as you will not be able to get into system properties to swicth the screen output to the tv/
