Testing for City Police?

Lot of the questions are psychic questions and I never seen essays so at some point the questions are going to be like would you open fire on a crowded street then tricky questions like a guy is speeding and you must arrest him and how are you going to get him to comply face him down before you can handcuff him? Or should you let him go and not arrest him?

I got the physical test covered as I can sprint 300 meters in about 52 seconds, and run a mile and half, push ups, sit ups, bench, all that. What im worried about is the written test. I can spell really good, and im not too shabby at math and my memory is good too. I have heard the local cops tell me that you have to know how to spell words like terroristic threatening, sheriff, and subpoena.. but I was wondering what else might be on there to better prepare me. Im dedicated to getting this job. Thanks for any help

Get a copy of the Job Announcement for your interest. The Departments usually list what they test on and what they are looking for under knowledge, Skills and Abilities.
Every police department uses a test they like to give.
All tests I have ever seen include, math, spelling, punctuation, logical deduction, reasoning.
One test gave you a picture. It said look at this picture for 5 min, do not take any notes. 5 min went by and they took the picture off the screen. They then handed out a sheet about the picture and asked 25 questions from that picture for you to identify.
Try looking at Hocus Focus, a testing of seeing items side by side with noted differences. Study word power in the Readers Digests at your local library.
The library also has study guides for police, firefighter etc or civil service job exams. Anything you do will help you to build a pattern of timing yourself at how long you have on each section to answer the questions.
