I just went for my first gyno visit(im 18) and yes I am sexually active. I got a phone call from my doc and she told me that I had an abnormal pap smear and tested positive for HPV. The first thing I felt was just a lot of shame and embarrassment. I mean, HPV is really an std. So I got scheduled for a cystoscopy in 2 weeks where they said I will probably have a biopsy taken. She told me not to worry about cancer, so I dont think its a strain that can cause cancer. But I have never once in my life had a genital wart. So I don't believe it is a strain that causes genital warts either. Basically Im just scared and wanted to know if this has happened to you, what was the procedure and whole experience like? What was your outcome?
I did get the gardsal shots at least a year ago
And HPV DOES usually go away on its own. "In 90% of cases, the body’s immune system clears the HPV infection naturally within two years. This is true of both high-risk and low-risk types." that quote is taken from the CDC website...and I think they know what they are talking about. Many people will say it wont because it is a virus...but the flu is the virus also. and eventually your body DOES fight it off.
