Test for eligibility to vote?

I have heard some people say that we need to make everyone have a high school diploma to vote. I don't really agree with that because I don't think formal education prepares you to vote , life experiences does. However I think maybe we should have to take some kind of eligibility/qualification test to make sure we know enough about what's going in our country and the world to make an informed decision while voting. I think a lot of people who vote don't have a clue as to what's going on in the world and are just part of some popularity contest. Others just vote the way the rest of their family or their friends vote.I actually think some are so immature that they wait to the very last minute to make up their minds just to try and make sure they vote for the winner , no matter who it is.

Just don't vote. The Judicial Intervention Act makes voting superfluous. Under the Act even if no one cast a single vote, the president would be chosen by the non-elected supreme court.

While I agree that it would be nice if all voters were informed. However a test has been ruled unconstitutional. Any American can vote by law. It would be hard to create a test that did not discriminate somehow. Back in the 50's Alabama had literacy test for new voters. But in practice only black people were tested. Very unfair.

I agree with you that sometimes it is a popularity contest or vote how parents vote. Hopefully these people will grow up and make decisions on their own.
