Now that cricket offers service Nationwide. Can they terminate your service for roaming all the time? Or are they working as a MVNO now? My gf is moving to ATl and doesnt wanna leave cricket...

Hi,

My name is Danny on behalf of Cricket Wireless.

To answer your question regarding roaming, I want to clarify a few things first. Cricket is unfortunately not nationwide as of right now. What this means is that you still have to be in a fully supported market, and Atlanta unfortunately is not (the closest full service markets are Chattanooga, TN and Charleston, SC). If you continue to use the service full time in Atlanta, your service may be disconnected due to excessive use of network outside fully supported cricket market (50/50 rule). Cricket does offer nationwide travel coverage, but for the time being, nationwide coverage is still a work in process.

If you have additional questions, please feel free to reach out to us on our Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/cricketwireless) or follow us on Twitter at @CricketNation.

Thank you,
Danny on behalf of Cricket

Cricket does have the new thing going but it is separate from regular Cricket--if you put in a zip that is not main Cricket a plan with 2 options and about 2 phones come up that you can use in a sprint covered area. I have actually seen this myself so I know it is there--whether the zip to where she is going will work I don't know.

Hi,

Hopefully I can clarify. Paygo phones are available at 3rd party/authorized dealers, but monthly prepaid plans are still not available in this area.

Coming this fall, Cricket products and services will be available for purchase in many new markets around the nation. Please visit www.mycricket.com for future updates. Be sure to enter your zip code for accurate representation of available products and coverage.

Thank you,

Danny is correct. Atlanta is covered for Cricket's customers living and residing in the original Cricket markets. However, the 50/50 rule will apply. If she will be living in Atlanta full time, she will definitely fall under that rule and will be subject to service restriction or disconnect. This is actually the same rule all four major carriers have. If the new Cricket Paygo phones become available in Atlanta, then there will be certain terms and conditions associated with their usage as well. You would need to consult the packaging and included materials for further details.

Thanks

Id really love to share the reason why cricket started actively enforcing this rule but I dont think I want to piss off crickets upper management. It involves flashed Blackberries around a year ago, that's all I have to say.

Thanks for jumping in! Are you saying that the 50/50 rule is absolute? I have both PagePlus and Virgin Mobile, Virgin Mobile is unlimited, but I only use about 100 min a month and ~200rab's. If I get Cricket and use 50 min and 51 roaming on an unlimited plan I will get cut off?

Hi,

If you are one minute over the 50/50 policy, you do not have to worry about being shut down. The rule is in place to flag and monitor those who are consistently and excessively relying on a partner network.

Thank you,
