It has not been approved here I believe, if you go to some forums on the web though, it seems very high in demand. Honestly with TSN2 now I don't really find a big use for the channel, unless you want instructional lessons and in depth stuff for real big fans of the sport.
The Tennis Channel launched in 2003 and is currently available on DirecTV, Dish Network and various cable systems in the US. In the 5 short years it has been on the air the owners of the channel have managed to obtain the rights to ALL 4 Grand Slam tournaments which they now share with ESPN2- a major achievement IMO for a small niche channel. They also have coverage of various ATP & WTA tournaments as well as instructional shows and also programs on other racquet sports such as squash and table tennis.
In Canada, Tennis channel is not on the approved list and probably never will be as Insight Sports (who owns GolTV & World Fishing Network) have a license for a racquet sports channel. They have yet to launch the channel but I am hopeful that at some point they will and it may be Tennis Channel Canada?! Unfortunately I don't think they will have any coverage of the grand slams as TSN has exclusive rights in Canada.
