Choices
Power and love are two great things
Until they each have their rein
So when you decided to rule them all
You let your own desire fall
Each day you sit on your royal throne
Silent, empty, and all alone
Your dreams have come true
You have money and power
But you miss me with each gone hour
What we had was something bright
And you made the choice you thought was right
So there you sit, a royal king
Loveless, heartless, without that ring
Why am I here? This isn’t my choice
The thing I want is for our rejoice
He strips off his crown and sprints out the door
Gaining speed and more and more!
He shouts and shoves, running with doubt
While people behind him shout “What’s this about?”
Up the steps and to the door
“Give me a chance. One more, one more!”
The door opens and she comes out
Her lips are puckered with a slight pout
“What do you want you took your pick”
“And I’ve wept every day, the tears round and thick”
He swept her up into his arms
“I want every moment with us together.”
“And I will love you forever and ever.”
The wedding bells sang as the rice flew
He never again thought of the power he knew
