Scars from the pages that you cannot burn
Stand in the whites of your eyes
Sailing on through your dark dreary cabin
I hope you don’t hear me tonight

I said it to you
It was all in the news
about all the ships in the sea
All of them drowning
Into the sounding
Waves of the terrible deep

And you cannot burn
Your shipwrecked souls
Who make up the tears in your lies
You cannot burn
The last of the earned
Tears in your droopy brown eyes

But don’t weep now
A fleet’s charming in
From cupid and his pirate ship
Coming to reward
Your pain for jewels
Of loves changing signs

Parchment pasted onto your forehead
Penning and penning away
Not to burn the old child’s tale
In which you thanked now
For we cannot burn
Memories we earn
Just drown them in current affair
Drowning down deep
We thanked the old fleet
Who once threw tears in our eyes
Prepared her damn well
For the real ship in town
And the real man around
Oh she’s got a book full of gold
And now were all playing
Out in the sea
But don’t get lost now
But make sure that
Your going very deep
