I have about 600 square feet of tilled up garden where i have been amending the soil and growing for 7 seasons with success. Now I find that there is a horticultural reason for some crops to do better after other crops. Please send me to some site where this is explained. Thanks.

Plants get nutrients from the soil to grow. Each plant needs different nutrients. If you keep one plant in the same spot, it will use up all of that nutrient eventually. So you do things like rotate crops and also add compost, manure, and 10-10-10 fertilizer to the soil each year. If you add compost, manure, and 10-10-10 which is the most common type of fertilizer by far, then you don't have to worry as much about rotating crops. Good luck.
