I have to work until 2:30pm Friday. They better still have some im thinking 16gb white. black looks like to many finger prints, i dont know yet

i guess i'm not understanding all the hype over a 3G iphone.

there was a boatload of people humping the phone when it first came out. So i mean how much better can this be that this much more humping is goin on?

While A-GPS and 3G are advantageous, part of the massive hype is just the fun of massive hype.

I didn't need a new phone by any stretch of the imagination, but you can't deny that the iPhone is an enigmatic and remarkable device, and I (never been an early adopter or wait-in-line type) decided to get in early just to enjoy the experience for once.

Now, the majority of things I felt were lacking in my iPhone previously have been addressed in a new device. I'm totally happy I bought mine, as I'm sure millions of others are.

This may not be a huge deal for a lot of people but for me one of the biggest advantages of a 3G phone is the ability to use the data connection while you are talking on the phone. I end up getting into a lot of conference calls that last for 45-60 minutes, often while I'm on the road or away from my desk or wifi connection, so the ability to pull up gmaps or look something up on google without having to hang up the phone is a huge thing for me.

i'm perfectly happy with my 1st gen model and wouldn't be getting the 3g if my co-worker wasn't buying mine for 200 so its like I get the new one for free.

dot. I've had my brother call me several times asking me to map an address for him. I'd hang up, look up whatever it is he needs, then call him back with the info. For some reason he doesn't like Apple/Macs very much. Maybe I should convince him into getting an iPhone. He does eBay alot, so that new app could help me convince him.

I end up doing this constantly on my win mobile phone (which is 3G and has GPS) because my wife and my boss both think that I am their personal voice-activated 411/navigation system.

Will the iPhone actually allow you to do this though? I know they don't allow multitasking apps - is "phone" considered an app or can you talk in the background while you do something else?

With the iPhone, you ARE able to have a call active and use another application at the same time. The upper margin of the screen shows basic call details, and tapping that area takes you back to the phone app.
