well im not so much of an author person but i have favorite books and series:
harry potter series
jodi picoult books
to kill a mocking bird
outsiders
life of pi
and lots more...
i like them mostly for different reasons
like the harry potter series that just became an obsession of mine because it is so interesting to see a completely different world. the jodi picoult books I love because of how much drama goes on in them with their controversial issues and court cases. i love to kill a mocking bird and the outsiders because they make you think and they are so well written and just beautiful classics. Life of Pi is because i love survival stories. I love the books Alive and Into Thin Air because they make you think what you may do in that situation...sorry this is very long!

Stephenie Meyer. I'm a HUGE fan of the twilight series.
Cassandra Clare and D.J. Machale
They both write books (The Mortal Instruments, Pendragon) that have a teen protagonist, even though the genders are different in the two series. Cassandra Clare makes Clary very average, which is much easier to relate to than someone who wasn't. Pendragon's protagonist is Bobby, and though he's a boy and I'm a girl, I can relate because he speaks in ways of a teenager, not an adult. He admits when he does things wrong, which is odd to find in books. Usually the protagonists do nothing wrong, which makes it less believable.
