Yeah, definitely see a general surgeon about it then! It's possible that it may be a cyst, which can develop suddenly. Most likely, a cyst wouldn't cause any trouble, but they can still be painful or uncomfortable, so they can remove them for you. They may want to do an ultrasound or similar scan on it to see exactly what it is. I know with my hernias, there was no strenuous activity. Try couging to see if the lump bulges- if not, then it is likely NOT a hernia. If so, then it could be one. Either way, the general surgeon should be able to give you a definite answer and let you know if you need to do anything about it. Good luck!
