Techniques for controlling nerves before a huge sporting competition?

I'm not very good at controlling my nerves before huge trampolining competitions. Does anyone know of any techniques i can use to help me ease the anxiety as it is beginning to affect my performance!! Please Help!!!
 
If it's to the point where you shake with nerves maybe you could get a small dose of beta blockers? Or would that be dangerous, considering it stops your heart from beating too hard... Best ask your doctor...
 
so something mindless, like play on a wii or summit
or read a book
or go to sleep


dont worry about your competition now, or when you go to perform, play, compete - youll be a wreck!!!
 
I was a gymnast in high school and we competed. Totally know how you feel. Especially with family and friends in the crowd. But..I zoned out and concentrated on my task at hand. To me, they weren't even there. You have to put the watchers out of your mind and go with what you know and do your best. Good luck!!!!
 
everytime a bad or nervous thought comes in to your head completely shove it out and change it, even if you dont believe it, to a positive thought. i,e AAH I AM SO NERVOUS I AM GOING TO MESS UP I KNOW IT ===>> I AM FEELING CALM AND I WILL DO MY BEST

the only difference between you and someone who doesn't get nervous is your thoughts, those who don't get nervous do not allow themselves to think ahh im scared etc you have to take control of your thoughts and completely blank out the usual, also dont over think.
