Technical: Pauses on Channel Switches

Sorry - this may have already been discussed - I am a new Bell customer. Started a new thread because I don`t know where such a question should go.

Yesterday, I was getting a 20 second delay when changing channels (up / down arrow)....black screen until the signal came on. Called technical & they had me re-boot the reciever. Improved but there is still a 5 - 6 second lag. Not dramatic but a bit irritating if one is fast surfing through 10 - 15 channels !!

My question: is this normal ? Does it happen time to time ?

Any feedback would be appreciated.
 
No its not normal. The delay between HD channel changes is typically about two seconds. The audio changes almost immediately but the black screen continues for close to two seconds. This is similar to what you typically find with digital cable.

A wait of five or six seconds is definitely not normal.
