Teachers-what do you do if you make a mistake while correcting tests?

I´m a new teacher, and use a red pen to grade my student´s papers. I read a student´s writing again, and he was correct. Should I just cross out what I wrote and write ok, or do something else? Would you suggest using white-out to cover up my mistakes?

Yes, that sounds good. Cross it out & put okay... teachers can make mistakes, too. Do not use the white out. Put one single line through what you wrote & put an OK by it with your initials.
Congrats on being a new teacher! I hope you & your students have a good & productive year! =)

I wouldn't put anything more than the "OK" & your initials. =)

Be honest. Cross out your mistake and write something like,
"Whoops, sorry about that!"

We all make mistakes sometimes, especially when marking loads of papers. If you white-out your mistake you are sending the message that you are ashamed of it. I always tell my students that mistakes are fine as long as we learn from them, I'd hate to have a classroom where the kids were scared of trying because they didn't want to make mistakes.
