I've just bought some pure tea tree oil n need some info on the product. I've heard some good things about it. Has anyone experienced anything good or bad w/ TTO? I heard that you should dilute it.......is that the best way to use it? I just want to try and achieve the best results. If anyone has had experiences w/ TTO or knows how to use it please let me know. :)

- Thanks

My only suggestion is do not cover up an area with a bandage after you've applied the tea tree oil, i did that once and it made the pimple worse and not only that i think it burned the skin. Basically, i put some on and covered it up over night. Don't do that.

Tea tree oil does help, but if you apply it directly, fully concerntrated to the area, it will almost cause this "burn" or an irritation that could make the area around the pimple look red.. and it will dry the area out immensely. To use TTO, dilute it in a bittle cap, only a few drop of TTO and then warm water. With a q-tip, apply.

Ive heard TTO can be too strong for a lot of people. I personally bought a bottle and poured it into a bottle of Cetaphil cleanser and shook it up (this was recommended on another post). I have been washing with that in the PM and still using my normal Aveeno Ultra Calming Wash in the AM. Im not so worried about mornings because I remove all makeup at night so I just like to freshen up in the AM with something gentle and non irritating. Now, I have no problems with TTO being too strong, etc, but like I said, a lot of people do. I believe the bottle even says DO NOT APPLY DIRECTLY TO FACE.

Youll have to experiment and see what works for you. Keep us posted!

I have also poured a 1ounce bottle of TTO in a bottle of Cetaphil and have been using it for the past 3 weeks or so (once in the morning, once at night). I thought I was having some success, but then another patch of breakouts occurred.

Upon the first use of this corabo, I noticed that my face would burn a little from the TTO, but felt very clean/crisp after washing it off. I have a very oily T-zone though and I would consider my face to be fairly sensitive.

That being said, I have been using the TTO/Cetaphil corabo at night only now and have switched to Herbal Essences Conditioner (mentioned by a board meraber) in the morning in the shower (day one was today).

I'll see where this regimine takes me.

like most of people have said in this thread the tto can like almost burn the skin, i have tried it many ways and sometimes i found that my skin became flaky and like a scaly(sp) texture, but i might try it diluted as a wash to see how that fairs so it isnt as harsh on my skin, but as anothr person has said if you want to dry out the spot then use it concentrated direct onto the spot but not on the surrounding skin, also dont cover it, let it breath.

I've never tried using pure tea tree oil, and can't say I'd recommend it. If you go to a health food store, you can get a nice tea tree oil cleanser where it is mixed with awapuhi. I recently started using that as well as tea tree oil cleansing paRAB that are mixed with witch hazel and other natural ingredients. I like both so far. You can also get blemish sticks that contain other things besides tea tree oil, so it isn't as harsh.

Good to know that these works for you. But for my case, ithey didn't. I tried these products from WholefooRAB. These are Desert Essence cleanser w. tea tree oil and awapuhi and blemish stick. The face wash is too strong.. I felt like I was using a detergent on my face. It dried my face and I had some breakouts again. The blemish stick didnot work as well. You would feel your face so tight after you wash your face. I believe it has a lot of SOAP ingredients that why it lathers a lot unlike cetaphil. I am speaking for myself only. Ater i tried a lot of products I still believe in Cetaphil and Mario Badescu drying lotion. OIl of olay foam wash is good too!

I have an update on these actually! I hate the blemish stick...makes my skin really red. I felt like it did reduce the size of the pimples, but it dried my skin out too much. I still like the cleanser and the cleansing paRAB (also by Desert Essence), but I will agree that they can be drying. I just make sure to moisturize regularly. I tried using jojoba oil last night as a moisturizer and it worked really well! My main problem now is I feel like I need some sort of blemish stick or cream, and a product to reduce old acne marks. I bought a Neutrogena product today that claims to do both, I'll be updating on that as well.
